Any chance of drafting in a prop not getting much game time from another Aussie team? Like Shep or Rodzilla?

Is that even possible? Can someone throw in some two bobs who knows more about contracts and all that.

Although Shute might be a better option anyway!

Take Shep. He has been very bad for the Reds. Seriously though, it wont happen at this stage of the season.

Almost feel for the Tahs after that. They gave it their all and a few bad injuries and the send off could have seen the game quite easily go the other way. Would normally have tipped them over the Highlanders but after 2 tough games in the republic and a long flight home and 5 new guys out injured it's going to take a huge effort for them to make the 6.

Sorry wasn't saying it wouldn't happen, just that it won't be Shep. The Reds have booked their spot in the final and will want every fit player ready and available, god help us though if it does come down to needing Shep in a final.

D'oh I thought this game was on tomorrow night, didn't set up to record either, oh well. TTrugbyvids it is for me then.

So are the Tahs still a chance for finals now that the highlanders went down? Not that I would expect them to get any further than that. Losing Fatcat is a major, major blow, I just hopee it's not for very long.

I stuffed that up too - the recording I mean.
Just watched that clip - would like to see another angle to really be sure...
Nah, fuck that, that was a fucking ridiculous call from the Arse Ref, who sadly has a list of ridiculous interventions to his name.
From the sounds of it, the game was probably not won or lost on that.
Have to try and get a replay today sometime.

Pull your head in no4198. Shep put himself through the ringer for you lot in that epic scrumathon against the tahs. Pretty sure the others would have done worse, but whatever the case the bloke has been much better than terrible.

Ok that decision was ridiculous. The AR doesn't even think it's worth it, ums and ahs and finally says 'oh, of course'. He must have realised how dumb the call was and then had to go through with it to stop from looking like a moron, which he ended up doing quite well anyway.

Perhaps the automatic red carding for headbutts is the issue, not the AR's call? Why are all headbutts treated as being equal, when no other foul play offences are punsihed with a blanket rule? High tackles aren't, late tackles aren't, even hands to the eyes aren't.

Clearly the AR thought he was a deliberate headbutt. Now once he saw this, he was obliged to report it. Joubert could have asked him whether he thought the incident was a red or yellow card. But he didn't. Surely not all headbutts are equally dangerous? Does Joubert have any discretion once a headbutt has been reported to him (I imagine he does) or does he have to issue a red card?

I don't see where it is an automatic red card:

10.4 DANGEROUS PLAY AND MISCONDUCT
(a) Punching or striking. A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).
Sanction: Penalty kick

I am 100% certain there is nothing written in any IRB law book which links a headbutt to an automatic red card. And therefore I believe this fiasco was Joubert's fault, not the Assistant Referees. Joubert handled the AR's report very poorly, and effectively forced him into agreeing to a red card by stating that such a sanction was madatory. Could this be another crucial decision made by a non-neutral referee which favored a team from his country of origin?

While it might not be in the written laws, it is quite possible that a directive from the IRB or Sanzar stipulates a red card for a head butt. Just googling "Red Card and Head Butt" brings up multiple instances in just this year where players have been red carded for head butts (in the NH and SH). Including Ryno Benjamin of the Cheetahs in the match vs the Rebels a few weeks ago. At the very least, Joubert was consistant with that sanction and other rulings recently regarding head butts by showing red.
