We desparately need a world class 10. Stannard to cover 9/10 next season?

To'omua? although i remember him being signed with Brumbies or someone else. There is always say.. Halangahu or U20's Volavola.

But seriously, I'd be looking at Matt Brandon from QLD. Won't be world class but certainly head and shoulders above whatever else you got.

To'omua is shit anyway. I don't even want him at the Brumbies really.

Last year after watching To'omua I thought that he would be a future star. This year he hasn't had many opportunities, but he will get those opportunities next year.

I know there is many a slip between cup and lip, but I still think he will be a star.

To'omua had the backline working better in his one game at 10 then it had been pretty much all season.

Brandon is in the Force setup right now, was on a short term contract. But we never really saw him so no idea how he would perform.

Id love to get a world class ten, but these guys dont grow on trees unfortunately.

And any word on the rumour Swanepoel has left the Force? I hope not.
He and Turner were the future with Sheehan nearing the end of his career.

Brandon is a class footballer. Without being electric, he is very sold, makes few mistake and is a great communicator.

To'omua is also a very good flyhalf, and a complete contrast to say a QC (Quade Cooper) or JOC (James O'Connor). I think he could mature into a Ronan O'Gara type flyhalf.

No comment on the U20s prospects...

He's not that bad, honestly. He's not as good as the hype, though. Also, be careful with "analysis" like that, reminds me of the schoolboy forums.

Yes, fair enough I was a little blunt with that comment.

To'omua is hardly shit...

The Brumbies' backline has looked its best when he's played at 10 the past couple of years, however this year was not his best year and apparently he's had a hamstring injury which has given him problems, and he hasn't had a consistent run at Super rugby level...

And let's not forget the silly tri-half system... things might've worked out better if the Brumbies had of just simply let them play their natural positions...

He was a Wallaby tourist a couple of years ago...

Next year he'll be in line to takeover from the 10 jersey and by the end of next year, as long as he stays fit, we'll know how good he really is...

Christ... how old is he? 22?

I haven't heard anything... BJ is the best one to consult with these kinds of things...

However, the Brumbies were only going with 2 scrumhalves next year...

One of those is Nic White, and the other is supposedly going to be Prior, so I doubt he'll be coming this way unless Prior backs out...

Cheers Slim, its an unconfirmed rumour over at TWF.
Force would be mad to let him go though.

Rumour is that Siliva has left as well. But I cant blame him, he is behind two good young hookers.

This isn't the right thread for a continuing chat about Matt To'omua.

Having said that, he is only a kid (20/21), hasn't had a lot of time in his favoured position, and if he is having a bad patch he'll get through it. Very good player with lots of potential IMO. I remember many people bagging Cooper's ability (not just tackling deficiency) not too long ago.

Western Force Press Release (edited)

The Western Force has continued their recruitment drive for the 2012 season by adding young outside back Jordan Rapana to their squad.

Rapana heads west after recently returning to Australia following a two year religious mission in the UK while he also makes the switch to rugby after a stint in league.

Drafted by the Gold Coast Titans directly from high school, Rapana was the youngest player in the club’s history (18yrs) when he debuted in 2008. He played five NRL games and scored five tries, including two against the Roosters in his first match.

Such was his impact in his rookie season Rapana was named in the U20’s Team of the Year and selected to play for NZ Maori against the NRL Indigenous All-Stars in a feature match to open the 2009 Rugby League World Cup.

A commitment to his Mormon faith saw him opt out of the second year of his contract at the Titans and he spent the next two years abroad based in the rugby heartlands of England and Wales.

While the New Zealand born youngster was unable to participate in any professional programmes during his missionary work, his time in Gloucester, Worcester, Swansea and Cardiff, amongst others, rekindled his love of rugby.

After hearing of Rapana’s return to Australia Western Force coach Richard Graham invited the youngster to trial in Perth and was immediately impressed with his dedication and ability.

“He is quick, and aerially one of the best players I’ve seen in recent times, while he also possesses a very good all round skill set” said Coach Richard Graham.

The 21 year old is the younger brother of 2010 Western Force rookie Joelin Rapana who played a hand in getting him to Perth.

Rapana will remain at home on the Gold Coast and play with the Breakers in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition before joining his new Western Force team mates in Perth ahead of the club’s tour to Samoa in August where they’ll play two matches against the Samoan test team.

Sounds promising. Has anyone seen him play? Don't watch enough league to know.
