Wykes left west harbour on Thursday morning after agreeing to play on Monday hence why he was named In Rugby news starting for wests , apparently he felt he needed to be playing in a team that is finals contention to enhance his chances of making the wallabies squad

So will he go back to the Pirates now?

;)

I think not. This is very disapointing for west having lost their head coach, ayoub, wykes, ma'afu and soon probably sidey they seem to heading into a bad state.

I'd be very surprised if they lose sidey seeing he is a local junior and come through the club ranks .. Also can't be all bad they did beat Australia's 7th super rugby team southern districts

Ben on the other Hand will not be too impressed.

I liked it lily.

Agree on Piukala, Alexander and Bennetts. Bennetts is obviously behind Kingston at the Tahs now and should be looking elsewhere. Fast enough for a 13, classy and has a good fend. Can give a golden ball too.

Can someone explain to me why for the 2nd time this year the powers that be have chosen to not show Eastwood vs Manly in favour of the Easts vs Randwick game. This will be the 6th time in 15 weeks that the Wicks have been on and they are coming 6th. They were also terrible last weekend against a very good Eastwood team. Once again top of the table gets trumped by 3rd vs 6th. I dont understand, it's not as if the schedulers didn't know this game was going to be played and it wouldn't have been too hard to work out that these 2 teams would be at the top of the table.
For those who are interested, this is a breakdown of tv games.
Easts 4 times including upcoming game
Wicks 6 times
Sths 2 times
Highlanders 3 times
Uni 3 times
Manly 2 times
Woods 5 times
Pirates 1 time
Rats 1 time
2Blues 1 time
Norths 2 times.
It was a similar situation last year with Eastwood at the top.
The thing that shits me is that last year Penrith, Gordon and Parramatta were not shown once and once again this year the Emu's are the only team not to have appeared on Channel 2. This is a joke.
I dont understand how Penrith can beat Randwick yet Randwick have been shown 6 times. It's beyond me.

Im afraid not. I think Papworth must have dinner reservations somewhere in the Eastern Suburbs.

I think Eastwood have been on the last two weeks in a row, a third could have been deemed a bit too much

They're undefeated after 14 rounds and playing 2nd place.................it deserves to be on tv.......Again i stress, imagine if this happened in the nrl?

Maybe and just maybe (throwing a thought out there form left field) the Woods are not getting the big games on coz ABC is concerned there would be a perceived favouritism coz one of their employees is the Club President. Like it or lump it ( I hate it), Randwick are the most famous club in the country, maybe because of that the ratings are higher from an ABC perspective......

Anyway, just a thought

They should show all teams. I was out at the Emus v Two Blues match a fair few weeks back now. It was a sensational game. Penrith scored from the kick off, led by 20 at halftime, Two Blues came back to lead with 10 to go and got pipped at the post. Whilst the skill level wasnt that of a Manly v Eastwood match, it was actually better to watch. The boys up front bashed the hell out of each other so the backs could have some space to throw it round. A lot more risks were taken in attack by both teams, which would not be taken in a top of the table clash, but it made it one of the most entertaining matches I've seen in years.

The ABC - either of their own volition, or at the request of the SRU or NSWRU, not sure which - tries to show all the clubs playing during the season.

That said, surely at the business end of the season the most important games should be on the box. First versus second is the most important game.

Would like to sent for thee all teams get 2 home games shown live every year (with two teams getting 1 rotating amongst all teams). Teams not expected to be in the hunt finals could be shown early in the year when super players are absent.

Qwerty I do realise that they have been on the last 2 weeks. I know this because i posted the stats on TV games. If you like I've got copies of Rugby News going back several years so I can provide more data if you want. The problem is that in the last 2 weeks they have shown games that have involved 1vs 4 and 1 vs 5. I couldn't care less if Manly weren't going to be shown. The problem is that the viewing public who continue to think the Shute Shield is a meaningless competition aren't being shown the best matchups.
Before you accuse me of sour grapes actually read what I said. If anything it was a rant revolving around the continued bad treatment of Penrith.

It's been at least 6 years since Penrith had a tv game. Add to that the fact highlights of their games have not been shown once this year! The Emus have come a long way over the past couple of years. Maybe they should be rewarded?

There's no question the game is struggling for air out west. With the revival of Parra continuing and the resurgence of Penrith, surely the ABC could show some moral support of both clubs. Maybe they should be rewarded? I say they definitely should.

I believe the ABC have a moral obligation to ensure the support for the game is shown to all clubs, regardless of their position on the table.
