One thing last night's match showed again was that Pat McCutcheon is a looong way short of Super starting quality. I thought he was our worst forward and probably the worst forward on the park. Why everyone wants to promote him over Alcock is a mystery wrapped in a conundrum.

Its been said before, and I'm sure it will be said again, but what can these two have (that they're obviously keeping secret) that Jenkins doesn't.
The man deserves a contract, and I for one would be happy if it was with the Tahs.

I completely agree with you. I think Alcock is much better. He might be relatively small, but he's super quick, has some mongrel about him and has an uncanny knack of slipping out of tackles.

As a Tahs fan I hope Alcock is the first choice 7 next season. A backrow of Dennis, Alcock and Palu would excite me next season. The Tahs just have to work out what to do with Dean Mumm. He doesn't make my starting XV. Can someone find him a lucrative contract in France please?

I'm with you. Jenkins would start in front of Alcock easily and McCutcheon is a long way behind those two.

Looks like a very strong squad. The very probable notion of leaving Mumm, Dennis, Carter and Halangahu out of the XV is a good sign. Any thoughts on who'll make the 22? I'd go:

1. Robinson
2. TPN
3. Kepu
4. Timani
5. Vickerman
6. Elsom
7. Alcock
8. Palu
9. Pretorius
10. Barnes
11. Mitchell
12. Carter
13. Horne
14. Turner
15. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
-----------------
16. Fitzpatrick
17. Ryan
18. Mumm
19. Dennis
20. McKibben
21. Halangahu
22. Kingston

Timani and Vickerman would be an awesome combination. They complement each other very well. That pack would destroy other scrums, so much power.

That's a very good 22. No Elsom and Dennis slots in nicely. Still got Douglas as well.

Very good 22, as long as they dont have another shocking run of injuries this team should make the finals.

Tahs might go the 5/2 split on the bench as they have some pretty quality forwards and reasonably versatile backs. Can Kingston and Foley play fullback or are they specialists?

I'd be stoked to see Rocky back. I hope the captaincy isn't part of the deal, but I'd take that too if the alternative was Mumm.

I don't get it. I think Rocky is a great player and I expect he'll be a fantastic Super Rugby player again now that he seems to have overcome his injury worries.

With Dennis and Mumm covering 6 and Vickerman, Douglas, Timani, and Mumm covering 4/5, why do we need Elsom.

Maybe Foley is trying to recruit a Captain to replace Mumm rather than a specific player.

Because he is way, way, way better than Mumm? I hope we see 4. Vickerman 5. Timani 6. Elsom and Mumm off the bench.

We really needed to acquire a top-notch 7, although perhaps the ongoing shift in interpretations will reduce the role of fetchers in Super Rugby next year too.

He's got some recognition, too. With Baxter, Beale and Waugh departing, a known face may add something to the brand recognition of the 'tahs.

Dennis is my first choice 6 for the Tahs by a long way over Mumm. I think Dennis will be really challenging for a spot in the Wallabies in a year's time. His improvement over the last year has been fantastic.

Agreed. But Elsom is still a better player than Dennis, especially if his form keeps improving.

What do you think of Vicks as captain?
