Ellison out is a huge loss :(

Indeed he is. The Highlanders have had as many injury problems this year as the Reds. Kind of glad to see Mike Delany ahead of Noakes at 10, he has a more experienced head on his shoulders, and can kick goals okay. Good to see Jimmy Cowan at least get some game time in probably his last match for the Highlanders, he should have come on for Smith last week. Still picking a Reds win, maybe by 5 or so.

Gill and Ioane are big losses for the Reds, to go with Horwill. Some very key players missing. Not confident about this one at all.

He's so "new" that he doesn't even appear in the Reds website 'player profiles'! For those of us who don't know him, what's his story?
No profile because him along with Blake Enever have been drafted in as injury covers for the rest of the season.

Jarrad played under 20's last year, and has been in the Reds/National academy for about three years now. This season he moved from the Gold Coast to Easts, and has been massive in all games he has played. He may not be tall for a 8 but he still jumps occasionally. He doesn't miss a beat defensively, but it is in attack where he revels. Devastating and destructive when running with the ball, and has a great offload in the tackle. He deserves a Super contract next season, which he is rumoured to get with QLD.

Obviously my view is only at club level, but out of all the backrowers in Premier Grade this season, he has been arguably the best 8.

reckon he should beef up a bit - get to 110 (think he is 104-106) and move up to that beautiful spot, the key spot where games are won or lost HOOKER. Bloke is just not fast enough or afetcher to be a great 7 (especially with Gilly having already made his mark at S15 level and being only 19 or so), not tall enough or again fast enough to be a top line 6, probably the same at 8 (at S15 level). Kid has great rugby skills - passing, catching, attack, defence, tough and motivated but IMO his body shape and players in front of him would lend itself to my suggested move to 2.

Thanks TL12, he sounds like an asset.

No Ioane again is a real worry. He is such a key player for us. How does a professional rugby player get pneumonia?

Robinson's aggressiveness will be a big asset in this one. His inclusion over Gill may have happened anyway, or played in tandem again. Gill doesn't have the size or physical game to combat the clan at the breakdown and the way they flood it could have left him ineffective.

Ioane is obviously a huge loss. There back 3 is up there with the best and there is no one close to replicating his ball running.

Genia plays at his best when he has Ioane running off him... No Ioane removes a massive task for the southern lads... Cooper back is a plus but no form yet... No Ioane to tackle for Coops either... Up front with Gill and Horwill out the Clan have the stronger pack at the breakdown and set piece... It will be close; I can't see any 4 try bonus points being awarded in this match... Man on man the Clan have the Reds covered... not much in it... Rain in the forecast tonight in Brisvegas will hide the champs’ tears of 2012... I think the Clan could steal this one… But what would I know as a Brumbies supporter...;)
