Worried about the TMOs?

I think they will most likely be Fracisco Pastrana as he is the one the UAR are really pushing at the moment.

So who do the pundits feel are the likely refs for the semi's? From the look of it- gigs in the last two rounds - Kaplan is on the comeback trail (thank goodness the Tahs are out of the finals, they would have allocated him to us for sure). Joubers and Peyper seem to have done well this year, though Joubers was terrible early. Jackson looks like the best of the Kiwi's, Steve Walsh appears to be back in favour. The random decision generator appears to be out of favour (hooray!) and the best of them, Mark Lawrence, appears to be not very highly regarded either.

So, are Joubers and Peyper the front runners for the final?

I used to watch all the games, now just 2 or 3 a week towards the end of the season (so I might have missed some good/bad performances). Peyper has had a good breakthrough season, but I think he'll get a semi at best. Walsh is looking good so far, so is Joubert, both had good June tests. I doubt Kaplan will be there, but maybe it is the plan to bring him back for the finals? Anyway, my preferences so far would be:

1. Joubert
2. Walsh
3. M.Lawrence
4. Peyper
5. Williamson (with Pollock injured not sure who will be the top kiwi ref)


You could even throw Jonker, Kaplan or Glen Jackson into the mix. Also Laurens V.D.Merwe has been going very well. They've given him AR appointments for the test matches so he'll definitely feature in the appointments for super rugby finals.

If Pollock wasn't injured, he would rate as my number 3. I'm not a huge fan of Walsh but have to admit that he is hitting some form at this stage of the season. I also think that Mark Lawrence is underrated.​

Yeah this is something I never understand.

Craig Joubert is the best referee in the world. Why have him play second fiddle to Kaplan? It's not like the demands of refereeing are so rigorous that you can't possibly hope to ref two Saturdays in a row.

This is like the world cup, worst ref gets a final - last weeks games "attractiveness" was destroyed by this pedant and that was just adding to a long list. I'd rather see Walsh reffing it.
