Will Grammar get a place? I really just hope Shore gets knocked off the top spot, i dont care if it is by The Eastern Bloc, the River Warriors, The Hill Fort, The Intellects, the Fibros or the Country Knockers, just someone please do it.
Perhaps we can discuss bribing ASADA not to test our Newington and Joeys rowers? hehe

so, now heading into the final weeks of preparation for the boys, the questions among the rowers seem to be straying of to "who is having an after". As a father myself, I’m not too happy with the idea, just wonder if there is any intel on which schools are allowed to have it, which are not, which are forced into having a dinner, and which schools have prepared one already. I know back in the day it was a big thing held on the old parra bank, but not sure if Im so keen nowadays especially with such rivalry and occurrences like poor Liam Knight.

Have to say afters are a waste of time. Either you're jubilant and buggered or despondent and aggro or liable to buggering up. The real crews will focus on the race and not worry about frivolities. Looking forward to the posturing about the NSW Schoolboy Regatta and whether that is a bellwhether regatta.

Thankyou. Now that you've told me we're in with a chance my heart is racing. Whilst obviously Shore are still favourites, and they've got a lot of history behind them, while we've got a lot against us, I'm a hopeless optimist. The celebrations that Joeys old boys would have after a win would be unlike anything seen before on this earth.

Young boys and catholic priests having good times...the earth has seen enough of this caper

Newington after beating Scotch in the heat of the U21 Mens 8+ on the weekend has left spirits high, even though it was blatant that Scotch rated 24 for the last 300m. Ignorance is bliss. Culture will have to change for New to have a chance with keeping up with the big boys with their short finishes and v-splash catches leading to no loss of momentum at the catch and increased acceleration and propulsion.

I think Scotch were rating 18 spm. There is always loss of momentum in the stroke cycle doesn't matter if you're in the stroke seat of the German Olympic VIII or 2 seat of the Newington 4th IV murdering rhythm. Brian Richardson is an ex-olympic coach get him to explain the physics like our coach has.

Liam knight is one true hero. My youngest brother is a good mate of his. It is sad to see such a good kid hurt so badly. Lets hope there is never a repeat of that, especially not at afters!

It is now final that newington are having afters. Shore is having it at a year 12's house. It will be a dissapointment to see the boys get on the piss after all the hard yards they have put in over the months. I hear some have training the next afternoon. Rowing is not officially over until nationals has been complete

The old days on the banks of the Nepean starting fires under cars were so much more civilised.
I hear some changes in the 'view shed after marching orders given to one rower.

An early start to racing tomorrow. A flat out final. Be good to see how crews perform on the one roll of the dice. May get a bit murky with unfavourable conditions though. Don't know how New is being rated for a podium finish. Must be a good spin doctor who's part of the rowing staff!

what a day! Shore continued to show that they're the number 1 contender, with Kings stepping up to 2nd place from 7th earlier in the season and Joeys back to 5th. No sign of the scots 1st 8. Newington pretty strong coming home 3rd.

Thoughts on the results?

Some crews getting better towards the end of the season, some sitting stagnant, some getting worse - everyone knows which one they are. Funny things can happen at the AAGPS HOTR.

Scots were up on the Nepean AGAIN. They've obviously started their rowing radio silence camp early aiming to blast the other crews from the shadows.

The only crew that is consistent is Shore. Their idea of foxing is just winning. Pretty cunning plan, I reckon. Joeys slipped way off the pace but that may be a blip as they have posted times 10 sec faster. Kings have finally pulled their finger out. I think they have decided they just don't want to finish seventh any more. Scots are foxing all over the place and training under the cover of darkness. Riverview are a force to be reckoned with and Newington are hitting a better form. Grammar are still chasing the peloton but could breakaway if the conditions are right. Suspect there may be a bit of illness here and there. Two weeks is a long time in rowing. Beware!

Would that be
The Eastern Bloc Scots
The River Warriors Riverview
The Hill Fort Joeys
The Intellects Grammar
The Fibros Newington
The Country Knockers Kings

But Close enough ;)

Wolf Out.

Kings 1st VIII thought they'd go back to the Hudson and give grammar the touch up at Schoolboy today but the boys in black dug in and were not too far off view in the end. Altitude training however, kept the boys from laying down another in the final. Shore did a good job today. Did anyone else see that Canberra Grammar guy accidentally wack his boat into their riggers?! Would have been good for the pitch. HOTR 2013 - someone is bound to be on the receiving end of some bad luck!!!
