Jake White's selections this week suggest to me that he's leeping his powder dry for the stormers game. not sure about this approach. why rest palmer and move alexander when you'r playing against a strong sharks pack. He's either very confident or he's firmly concentrating on next week..thoughts??

He may well be looking at the following week as the "tougher" game, but rotation played a major role last year and after 3 games with an unchanged lineup (sans Speight against the Rebels due to injury) it was going to happen soon, particularly after a very physical game last week (well, the Brumbies were at least physical)..........

The Brumbies are also about to head into a trio of very tough games with the Sharks this week, followed by the Stormers, and then the Bulls (at home).......

But aside from Palmer given a rest I don't think the changes are that dramatic......

Many had considered Auelua, and Tomane as being starting XV players for the Brumbies........

Fardy is probably one of the form Australian locks but the Brumbies certainly won't lose much with Carter/Kimlin in the second row with Fardy to come on in the second half.......

And Kuridrani's inclusion comes with an injury to A Smith.........

You really have to give credit to Jake White for creating this kind of depth after one year.........

I think the Brumbies scrum with Palmer at tighthead is a match for any side in the comp. However, this new front row could be exposed. Should be very interesting. Sio is a good player and offers more than Palmer around the park.

I'm going to be very interested to see how Scott Sio goes in his first starting game. He's one young player I didn't want to leave Sydney because his promise as a teenager looked open-ended.

It will be a tough day at the office for the 21 year-old against JdP. I thought that Jake would ease him into a starting role against a lesser scrum with a lesser THP.

It's very young for an Aussie prop to be starting in a Super game, but he will have to have his head pushed up his backside a few times in his career and he may as well get started.

I still hold onto my secret wish that some coach will convert him into a hooker.

Alexander as THP will be interesting. In my eyes he's always had trouble getting low enough to stop the opposing LHP getting under him; so he tended to lower his body by having his feet too far back. This was a recipe for hinging down, and he did.

But let's see: maybe the old dog has a new trick on the TH side.

It's odd that Palmer isn't on the bench with a 21 y.o.Sio having his first start. If either starting prop had trouble Jake could have hooked Sio as a tactical substitution so that Alexander and Palmer could operate as per usual.

But let's see.

I've been thinking about the selections and I wonder if he's promoted Sio and Fotu as they're a couple of big ball running forwards and he's looking at winning those collisions?

It's certainly been a standout of both of their games in recent weeks....... add Kuridrani and Tomane to the mix........

He's super-sized the team to make sure we win the collisions.

Sio, Auelua, Tomane and Kuridrani?

There'll be a Rob breakers/try savers video from this game alone!

Brumbies:

1 Scott Sio
2 Stephen Moore
3 Ben Alexander
4 Peter Kimlin
5 Sam Carter
6 Ben Mowen
7 Geroge Smith
8 Fotu Auelua
9 Nic White
10 Matt To'omua
11 Joe Tomane
12 Christian Lealiifano
13 Tevita Kurudrani
14 Henry Speight
15 Jesse Mogg

16 Siliva Siliva
17 Ruadhri Murphy
18 Scott Fardy
19 Colby Fainga'a
20 Ian Prior
21 Robbie Coleman
22 Clyde Rathbone

Really hope Scott Sio plays 3 and Benny A plays 1. Good to see Tevita get a start, giving Andrew Smith a well earned rest, but sorry that Clyde missed the starting side.

Sharks didn't score a try against the Kings or Stormers and only 2 against the Cheetahs. Brumbies haven't conceded a point in the 2nd half yet. Don't see where the Sharks will get their points

Brumbies will need to be very careful not to concede penalties or Lambie will punish them. Even if they don't score tries, that's where a lot of points could come.

52 of the 62 points the Sharks have scored have come from Goals. 44 of the 94 points the Brumbies have scored came from Goals.

Maybe Deans has had a word with White and that's why Alexander has been shifted? Give him some solid game time at tighthead in the lead-up to the Lions.

Wouldn't be surprised at all. When I asked White why he played McCabe at 12 and not 15, he said he had talked to Deans and Deans was only looking at McCabe as a centre, not a winger or fullback, so he wanted to develop his game there.

As you say, the Sharks haven't scored many tries.
If they win, it will be with penalty kicks.

So everyone is convinced that the Sharks will never score a try again and have no way of recapturing their form of last year?

Right then. Let's see how the season plays out.

I'm not convinced mate. The stormers stepped up a massive gear last week as did the Bulls and Cheetahs. I expect the Sharks to as well. I don't know why posters are reading into the Sharks game against the Kings - it was a local derby. Australian derbies are usually close boring affairs regardless of the difference in calibre between the sides.

Anyone seen this outside centre Kuridrani play? Knows how he goes?
Can read in his stats that he's 6'5 and over 100kgs from figi and has repped oz in 7s - all sounds like a pretty bloody decent starting point. And he's replacing Smith who i think has been performing consistently well so he must be doing something right on the training paddock?

I only seen him him in the trial vs the Force at 13. Big, strong in contact, very direct and always made yards.

You really have to give credit to Jake White for creating this kind of depth after one year...

And two regular Wallabies injured (Pocock, McCabe) + Ita Vaea. Not bad. The top 22 is pretty much the same as last year...who selected it? White plucked Mogg from obscurity. Auelua was signed before White took the reigns.
