Cymru!

1/2p was excellent under the high ball.
The Welsh ball-security was generally very good - something that the Wallabies should heed.

Chris Ashton really is a grub.

I don't have to watch ESPN for another year - yay!

Gashton was indeed another in a long line of hyped up wingers that the press have trumpeted as the next great hope that have fallen in a heap. Remember Hanley? Few do. The writing was on the wall when Maclean found him out in the previous game. Gogzilla and Cuthbert both streets better.

We'll see if he gets cited. Must admit I've only seen the endless slo mos they are showing.

Seem to remember you lot used a similar defence last time.
I didn't defend Healy for a second. The Italians have started bringing wendyball style diving into the game which is a shame to see however they were good for their victory and I congratulate them for it. Bod lost his patience which is symptomatic of the whole teams mental state since half time back in Cardiff but he hardly touched that fella lying on the wrong side and he was writhing around like he had been shot.

Did you fail to back the favourite and lost your shirt on the Gold Cup? Difficult for me to say but I like the England setup. Must've been torture to watch. Taken with good grace. They'll be back next year and it'll be at Twickenham
I like Lancaster as well but the English press will be on his back after this. It is not right but the English press peddle the invincible English BS which makes coaching an English team so difficult.

Thank you for not failing to realize that Declan wasn't the main reason we won the Grand Slam in '09. If my memory serves I don't even think he was really in the coaching position for long enough before the 6N to have a serious impact on the squad anyway. It's funny how one of the strongest Ireland sides of the professional era and also one of the least injury-stricken in recent memory was able to win a Grand Slam and so many people just think it must have been that new coach.

In fairness to Kidney he sorted out a lot of infighting in the Ireland squad when he took over from EOS. He definitely played his part in the GS. But he should have gone after the WC. Hopefully he does the right thing and steps down during the week to give someone new enough time to build a squad for 2015. Also hope Ireland can find a backs coach who's plays book is a little more modern. A lot of our back play in recent years wouldn't look out of place if broadcast in black and white.

If both or cited I wounder who will get banned for longer, Michalak for his forearm smash and repeated punching or the Scottish player who deliberately dislocated his shoulder when both of them were lying on the ground.

How much of the default play for field position and low risk % back play is influenced by the higher possibility of wet/inclement weather in Ireland?

As we found out to our expense at Newcastle, in miserable conditions,it is very difficult to play expansive footy. A Plan B is needed.

History has proven that the Wobs struggle to deliver in wet weather.

Camp Wallaby needs to move to Darwin during the Wet and do some field work during the late afternoon thunderstorms.

WAL v ENG replay on Fox Sports now.

57 minutes gone. Cuthbert has just got himself a meat pie, and I am seriously enjoying watching this match. 17-3.

I see what you're getting at HJ but the provinces, especially Leinster, don't seem to have a problem playing expansive rugby very successfully all year round. Plus Ireland's back play, over the last few years, succeeded at being dire no matter the weather.

The play for field position rugby is Kidney's style, with which he was very successful at Munster. With O'Gara in his pomp and it being his natural style Munster swept all before them. However Kidney stuck with the same conservative, play the percentages style when Sexton became the 10. Sexton's natural game is attacking with ball in hand. The new guys coming through (Jackson, Keatley, Hanrahan and especially Maddigan) are all comfortable playing with ball in hand.

Those guys have varying ability at playing the Kidney style of rugby. Ireland should be playing a style that suits the players available to us. Leinster play a very expansive style at a skill level that wouldn't look out of place in the NZ conference. Ulster's resurgence has been in no small part due to their willingness to attack with ball in hand. Munster are in the middle of changing their style from the Kidney style to a more expansive game. Even Connacht have been allowed to take the shackles off now that they're not simply the dumping ground for has-beens from the other provinces.

As the provincial/club game here has moved to a more expansive game it seems that the Ireland team has moved just as quickly in the opposite direction to a more conservative game plan. Deccie and the other Irish coaches are a big part of why Sexton looks a shadow of himself when he pulls on a green jersey.

Weather definitely has some effect on how adventurous a team's play might be, but no where near as much as a lack of ambition.

Steve Walsh blows full time at the Arms Park.

No Chariot swinging high or low, but how good was the singing? That is atmosphere, and passion and pride in your nation.

No spotty faced DJ with a degree in sound engineering, majoring in Douff Douff music, can ever hope to generate that with a machine amplifier.

If only you could bottle the Welsh spirit .......

Lions Tour - Wales (if they can be consistent) vs The Ponies (international novices but consistently good).

The Stadio Olimpico sounded nuts. Will be doing a match there, some day.

Think last night showed that the constant wind, rain and snow that has hit Europe was largely responsible for the kickfest that most games descended into. With the roof closed it was a different story

Difficult is not impossible. The key is accuracy in execution. The Brumbies last night gave ample evidence to the lie that Australian players cannot play with accuracy in the wet. The fact that so many of our players struggle when the ball is dry is an indictment.

I would also say seriously given how wet it has been on the East coast over the last 6 months Australian players should have been training day in day out in the wet and be used to it by now without having to move to Darwin.

JPR Williams "I never thought I would hear myself say this, but I felt sorry for England."

Is anyone going to ask for his WRU blazer back after a statement like that?:)

^^^^ There could be some demand from the Valleys when they discount the price appropriately.

Hell I could even be tempted to buy a couple to be used as Kris Kringle Xmas presents for some reformed Soap Dodgers that I work with.

A very good reminder to not count chickens until the Fat Lady is singing Men of Harlech.

And the excellent quality of Steve Walsh's reffing. It really was a master class in the inforcing of the laws at the breakdown.
