Canes are ripe for the taking here.

No Dane Coles, Jeremy Thrush, Karl Lowe and Victor Vito is in doubt.

But Ardie Savea will make his Super Rugby debut and Jack Lam return from the bench. Anyone who watched the ITM Cup will know how talented the younger brother of Savea is, he's a future All Black. Hopefully Hooper and McCutcheon give him hell and force him into errors because when he's on he's hard to stop.

I can't see Ardie Savea doing much in his very first Super game, but hope I am wrong. Vito may yet play, he is bracketed, but it looks as if he won't. Apparently the new lock, Reddish, is rubbish.

Canes pack definitely looks weakened good opportunity for the Tahs to dominate upfront, if we can cut out the stupid errors (which in fairness I've said every week from round 1) we've a great chance of notching up a W.

Looking forward to seeing Savea the younger, he could be the next BNZ superstar, but lets hope he remembers his first S15 for all the wrong reasons.

Yes, the Cane pack is "defiantly weakened" and they do indeed have a lot of "young reasons"

Savea Jnr is seriously talented and should have a very bright future ahead of him as a professional athlete if he can stay injury free.

Lucky for the Tahs he is green ATM from a Supe perspective.

I still see the Tahs struggling in this game, but coming away with the four points in a close match.

Holmes as back up hooker has not impressed me and could be a major weakness for the Tahs depending how much game time he gets.

Cheika is doing something left field. The Tahs are still in Sydney, arriving in Wellington 11pm tonight! So straight to bed when they arrive and then wake up it's off to the game in a couple of hours. No captain's run at the stadium beforehand.

Let's hope it works.

Typing on an ipad was never my thing, I'm sure you got the gist of it

Regards, at least there is always an edit button to please the grammar police

The Tahs can win this one, it will come down to intent and endeavour. And I would suggest that any team that Cheika coaches will have intent and endeavour, in spades.

I think the Tahs have a great chance though I'm picking the Canes at the Cake Tin, with no great certainty.

The Canes have lacked the sizzle of last year and aren't dealing with pressure, including pressure to take the right option when there is an opportunity.

I'm looking forward to seeing Savea Jr. make his Super debut. I hope that Savea Super Rugby. doesn't call Pete Betham "Speed Bump" after the game.

Incidentally, I put up a review of the game here:

Good on Cheiks for trying something different. If it works, great. If it doesn't, don't mention it again...ever, especially to him! ;)

More on the timing of the travel thing was in the member email this week from Riff.

After three home games, travelling to NZ will be different challenge for the boys and with our travel, we’ll be trying to stay on Australian time. We’re flying in late Friday evening and then delaying breakfast until 10am NZ time, which is 8am in Sydney. For us, the game is a late afternoon game. It’s only two hours so it’s not a big impact on the body clock, but mentally it’s a help.

We really need to stop thinking of these movements to the bench as a punishment or demotion.....

Wouldn't mind seeing Timani punished or demoted to the bench in favour of Chapman. For a big lug he does bugger all imposing himself on a match, possibly got his mind around Montpellier already. Siti, please prove me wrong.

Beers are in the fridge, getting ready to sit down and watch this one. Potentially a season defining game for both teams, massive test for the Tahs in NZ but I think we have a chance. As the old saying goes forwards win matches and we have the superior pack IMO. If McKibben has his kicking boots on and the lineout functions we'll sneak it by a score.

Ben Franks and Victor Vito are out. That's 2 main front rowers and #8 gone. We should target their scrum heavily.

I'd agree but seeing as Kaplan is the referee the Canes can probably expect a shitload of penalties at scrum time
