Personally think you gave a few eddies players more of a wrap than they deserve i.e Humphries, he was strong but I think he looked better due to some poor defense. The game was dominated by penalties and errors by ashgrove which gave eddies ample opportunities which they made the most of. Eddies played a very simple game which seemed to work very well for them which is obvious with the score. They did show weaknesses though with ashgroves fullback as you explained slicing through there centers defense multiple times. A good game overall I thought with the conditions on hand, which eddies deserved to win they played better and I cant really see them being beat this season.

Good to see some healthy criticism. From what I saw it took 2 or so defenders to contain Humphreys whenever he had the ball. The game was very stop start at the beginning and Ashgroves defence, especially in the centres wasn't great and I think the SEC centres size and pace was too much for them. But since its schoolboy rugby I would rather focus on who scored/payed well then openly criticise and individual players. The conditions definitely played a major part.

My Predictions from the start of the season, forwards really hard to choose but backs pretty easy to pick at this point and time

AIC 1

1. Afele - SEC
2.
3.
4. McCully - SEC
5.
6. Tully - SEC
7. Clarke - ASHGROVE
8. Wilkin - IONA
9. Turner - SEC
10. Turpin - SEC
11.Lund - SEC
12. Junior / Turpin - SPC / SEC
13. Humphrey's - SEC
14. Devine - ASHGROVE
15. Setu - SEC

Agreed with setu being a bit small but there is no other person in this competition dominating as much as he is. Inside is a bit hard to choose but Turpin at 10 would be smart with having junior also playing 12 this year. Hard to pick the forwards but there are forwards that can play in this competition this year. Backs are fast and can shift. Wingers hard to choose but there is not many people that can match the speed of Lund from SEC and you have to have Devine in the team so putting him there would work well.

Don't forget Iona, the're still yet to be beaten. Eddies look impressive atm because there in the middle of a hard slog of games having pats (despite there results they actually look like a decent team), ashgrove and the likes of Peter's and Iona to come. Iona have some good players in centres Hola and Dawson (centres) and I think their front rows pretty good. St Peter's have good players Bennett (centre), Sorovi (scrum-half), Fa'aoso (8) and fullback (Henley), Pat's have a few that would push for selection from what I've seen (probs in AIC 2, AIC 1 usually made up of players from top 3 teams) like Brown (Lock) Skelton (flanker) and Roberts (fullback). Eddies fly-half Auld will make one of the teams. Interesting thing about Eddies is that they have Tully (7) throwing in the lineout and I swear I've seen winger Roberts jump in the lineout so hooker heck must just play as another prop (could be a factor in selections), Ashgrove have strong forwards, the managed to win a few scrums against the head, frontrowers Cloake and McSweeney look good, Manning (fullback is very quick so could play wing) also very aggressive flanker called Furniss I think would push for number 2. Haven't seen anything from Villa but they must have some good players to have beaten Peter's, probs wont be any players from Padua or Lauries

Andrew Tully is number 6. He came off injured in the first half. The number 7 for eddies this season has been Jacob Lindsey. He was been out standing although lineout throwing isn't up to scratch.

Agreed, the guy played Australian Schoolboys last year. Anyone who thinks he won't be in his preferred position somewhere in the backrow is kidding themselves.
But i think if they played junior 7 thy wouldn't completely drop Clarke considering he was AIC 1 last year

Are you completely sure, can anyone else confirm this? someone else pointed this out to me this week. Going off the match schedules the schools provide I've seen Tully listed as 7 and Lindsey listed at 6 do they just like to trade jerseys or is the info wrong? If so I've been crediting Lindsey as Tully the last 2 games.

The Boys in the black and gold?

Whilst this year has been a negative one for lauries I believe that there is some hope for representative selection, it was while I was waiting for my sons game to begin that I noticed the St Laurences 4th XV getting slaughtered by St edmunds 4ths that a partiucular player caught my eye, after a bit of questioning his name came forth - Jason Macdermott. His solid backline defence and slick passing caught my eye, as well as his almost un-matched fitness (lungs of steel??). All in all his backline play and deathly white skin would be an un-avoidable pick for any selector. My prediction: AIC 2 bench

Jacob Lindsey is the number 7 and Tully may not be playing the rest of the season because of the injury he sustained on Saturday. ALSO the likes of Eddies players to play AIC is unlikely because alot of them boy's want to compete in confro this year. The only boys that I see wanting to play AIC is Ryan Mcully, Dan Turner and maybe Clifton Setu. The rest of the boy's are League player's.

the referee at the peters vs villa game was terrible with his calls. he only warned the peters captain for penalties and gave a yellow card for a normal drive into the ground tackle, at one stage later the peters center was hit late (2 seconds) and he let play go on.all in all peters did miss some opportunities to win the game

Did anyone see the Peter's and Padua game 2 weeks ago? Some of the Peter's backs are very effective and have played cultural representive footy at a high level. Bennent, Enoch, Sovori, Henley, there Number 8, Mullins, Laurie! These have unbelievable talent and skill. So I hope selecters can watch these boys play. Also the speed this back line is great, especially Henley and Number 14 (Hansen) the Peters AIC swim captain. Really looking ofrward to the game this weekned against SEC!

there is no doubt the peters backs do take some effort in containing,
how many of the peters players are backing up from last year prem side?
must say i was very surprise that villa got over them, one result from that round i certainly did not predict.
