An amazing debut (really) by Lilo. Maybe a long term 10 there. Mowen showed he belongs at this level as well. Folau is unmatched for ability to beat one or two every time and make ground. Tomane has a broader game than I thought. Genia is still head and shoulders above anyone else. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) looks very good now he is playing in the one position. Both JOC (James O'Connor) and Beale made a lot of unforced errors. Not saying that late night hijinks caused them, but nota great look when you play like that. Forwards in general a bit hit and miss. Some great strong moments and some really weak moments. Douglas mistakes very disappointing. Palu still patchy, but a little more effort this weak. Hooper looked better only latte in the game when forwards started to tire. Gill did well in time he had.

I think so, pilfers, work rate, defense, a couple of good carries. Hooper was good but not as influential.
I thought hooper was good but warburton was a stand out, who knows what might have happened had he not gone off injured.

I did't see RD dropping the ball or losing the collisions. If the players had executed we might have seen whether Deans did have an answers.

Drop ball and losing ball in collisions is player issues and basic skills a professional rugby player should have. Its the rest of the game where a coach should have answers. Like kicking the fucken ball out, stay on your feet. Don't over commit to a ruck. And if you have 10 on your back thats what you play. Occoner passed once and we scored. Occoner is 12 Which he is good at

Also, the Wallabies starting front row was excellent while they were on. The scrum seemed a lottery at times but they managed very well and were frequently dominant.

I just think the Wallabies were so nervous tonight that they played within themselves for 3/4's of the test. They were trying not to lose, lost concentration and at times got lazy - hence the high number of handling errors, poor realignment, frustration etc.

When Aussie held on to the ball and got over the gain line I actually thought they looked good. They had players hitting the rucks in support and bodies in motion.

Lions played a real spoiling type game tonight. They were on the edge and at times over the offside line which made the first receiver stand deep or be avoided by Genia with longer passes to the inside centre channel.

Warburton had a good game disrupting a lot of ball and IMO Moore, Robbo and Alexander were not as effective as last week in hitting him and other Lions off the breakdown.

But the defensive systems seemed to be on song tonight. They gave the Lions very few opportunities to break the line and made most of their first up tackles.

They also did a decent job in disrupting and even winning Lions ball.

All is not lost, we have a series, an all or nothing game.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) looked to be hobbling at the end what's the prognosis.

Sorry, I thought they were professional rugby players.

Execution is just as much an issue with team culture and coaching as it is to do with the players. They are all absolute world class players so to claim that there is some sort of inherent issue with their ball handling that is nothing to do with the coaching stuff is ignorant of what they have had to do to wear a wallabies jersey. There was a period there where the whole team had no clue what was going on.

I would also point to the fact that the backline was playing moves from the 1970s where the 10 stands 15m behind the 9 and then does some tricky moves that end up with Israel Folau getting tackled on the gain line. Effective? No. Why? Because the 10 has had no experience and cannot handle standing flat and delivering wide balls to his backs to give them opportunities rather than relying on out dated set plays.

The one time O'Connor did well was when he took the pall, at pace, to the Lions defence, drew 2 players and offloaded to AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). No set piece, no deep attack, just pure draw and pass rugby with a flat line. Simple stuff with a try as the result.

Again, we should have stuck closer to the ruck where we were making ground. Their rush defence (being poorly policed) stuffed us hard.

And the fucking offloads, obviously.

Wow....another great game to watch. Mrs Bullrush and were jumping outta the couch and fist-pumping a couple of times in that game but the Gill steal at the line-out pretty much launched me directly off the lounge suite and about 2 feet clear in the air via the power of sheer amazement and excitement. Massive play.

I've only browsed the last couple of pages on the thread but here's my $0.02 on the Deans bashing.....
1-off runners. Why is everyone upset about this? Every team does it. It's supposed to either a) bust/bend the line b)set-up quick ball c) force more defence into the middle or the ruck area which creates more space out wide. You have to win those tight battles and force the opposition to respect you there to 'earn the right' to go wide. The key, though, is winning those exchanges. I'm sure everyone will talk about how the Wallabies weren't as accurate at the breakdown for the first 40-60odd minutes and we saw the Lions getting good turn-overs and penalties. Once the intensity and accuracy lifted there, lo and behold, space opens up outside and O'Conner sets AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) up for the try.

As Pusser said, Deans wasn't dropping the passes and losing the collusions.

ON O'Conner....nah, he wasn't perfect. But I'd say he had more impact on the game then Sexton did...........

Go back two years and you will see people discussing just this aspect. It is the whole game plan. Take no risks that could cost the game. Don't play basically.

Robbie Deans - "Small steps in the context of the tough conditions"..... Blah Blah.... "Its part of the process" Blah Blah.

I think I'd rather listen to Julia Gillard, probably has a better idea of what is going on and can actually communicate what she wants the audience to believe.
