How hard has brothers been hit filthrugby? Does brothers have the depth to cover Felsman, freney, postal, bond, brown and Murphy? Or is it only a matter of time before they get run down by the other big teams? With postal gone it seems the forward pack is lacking size and go forward
I know Felsman is off to Agen but where are the rest off to?

Yeah, I don't know how long Bond is out for. I've missed quite a few games lately, so I didn't Postal wasn't playing. Brothers are still hungry enough to win, so I'm not doubting us at all.

Rugby watch: postal is in France I believe (not sure which club) Murphy and brown at the titans in England. Freney Did a hip or something against GPS I think? Seems to happen to the filth a lot, go well all year, a few injuries and they get rolled in the finals

Watched an enthralling match Wests v Sunnybank and thought it was one of the best matches I've seen this year for a contest. I thought that the props for Wests were the match winners in the set piece and around the park. Couple of players that struggled were Tim Smith the half back for Wests, Genia was out injured and Tim looked very rusty as he had played wing all season, (I wrote an article in the roar yesterday about this very subject) he picked up from the base of the ruck and did the George Gregan three step before he passed the ball, got caught a few times, but he did have one magic moment holding up the pass and putting Green through a gap to score. John Hood (reserve grade HB) came on in the final 10 minutes or so and ignited the play for Wests and Sam Green began to get some quality ball, he again kicked very well and apart from a few missed tackles he had one of his better games. Dizzy Gillespie played the house down in the centres and had a great game as did Peter (Pup) Nelson in his 100th game

I was surprised that Sunnybank looked a little bogged down at times and didn't quite have that attacking flair that you might associate with a predominantly Islander team, as a matter of fact they looked to be quite a conservative side.

Now if we could get Wests to play like this every time we might get some pleasing results from the team. It will be interesting to see what the composition of the side will be next season as some players might change, Brenden Jones has been appointed to recruit for next season mainly in colts but I'm sure he will have his eye out for senior players.

IMO Wests just need a bit more height and bulk in the tight five (I cannot fault their effort) and perhaps a slightly more creative HB than N Genia. Nigel does all the things that you require but IMO he lacks that little bit extra brilliance that you need to win consistently. Maybe he will stand up and be a bit more aggressive next season, or maybe Wests will unearth a new, bigger and more aggressive HB next season. Some good prospects in colts have been noted this season in some positions even though they have been thumped. Only a few games to go now and then hibernation for the summer, I'm already agonising about what to do and how to fill in my Saturdays.

Breakdown Dave McDuling is back onfield and playing full games again, Sam Reiser has strung a few games together after a frustrating year or so battling injury, Browning in the backrow is also a lineout option, and there have been some good Colts (including Korczyk) stepping up.

Bucky has missed his fair share of games through injury over the past few years, and while it's good to have him play, the club is accustomed (to an extent) to his absence.

Off-field is actually the bigger loss.

I can't recall him missing a club night, he always ran water and messages when he was injured but mobile enough, he is/was someone the whole club looked to in setting standards for preparation and injury management, on-field and off-field performance, and dressing in theme for club nights. I have no doubt that someone will step up - they always do - but Bucky came up from a successful Colts team alongside others who have formed the foundation of the Uni Premier and 1st grade sides for the past few years. When he came into grades the club wasn't all that strong and he was on the receiving end of some beltings and tough rugby lessons. He has stuck around and he's been a significant part of the club's turnaround over the past 6 years or so.

Who has stepped up to cover the huge loss of Tim Buchanan?

Dave McDuling is back in actions now... he is an exceptional player and has a huge on/off field presence at the club. I'd expect a big last few rounds and finals from him once he has complete confidence back in those knees of his. Also young Sam Rieser is back in action as well. Curtis Browning & Matt Arvier can also cover the 2nd row. In saying that there have been a couple of young guys straight out of colts who have really developed after being thrown in the deep end earlier this year. I was critical of them at the beginning but to their credit they have matched it with some of the best packs over the past month or so. I'm interested to see how they continue to develop.

On the loss of Bucky... it is huge. He is the Captain of premier grade both on the team sheet and spiritually. A big talker on the field which is something you often lack when you've got such a young pack. This is where McDuling is critical as he will fill that role perfectly. On Kev, he will be another loss... not as big as Bucky but he has made friends for life down at the Red Heavies and has contributed significantly over the 3/4 seasons he spent with us.

[Gunn] played Aus Schools last year didn't he? That is a bloody quick elevation to Prem Grade, is he even 18?

[Greene] and Jonah Placid must be on the Reds radar now

I wonder if Jake McIntyre will stick around in QLD, if i remember correctly he came from down south and I would suspect they will want him back. A kid who defied the odds and took the non-GPS path to Aus Schools.

Yeah Gunn played for Oz Schools in 2012 - he turned 18 in June 2013.

Placid on the Reds radar??? You think??? Just kidding. He is a brilliant Billy Slater type of fullback at the minute and has to improve in other areas such as defusing bombs, kicking long and being a good custodian.

Jake McIntyre is from Alstonville in the Northern Rivers area of NSW and it made sense for him to do his National Academy stuff in the Brisbane area. I think his first choice would be to play up north.

[Incidentally, his Oz Schoolboys rival last year, David Horwitz, is going gangbusters and playing First Grade for Randwick now - not a bad gig for a bloke who is still 18 years old.]

Can anybody reading this tell me what has happened to Jack Tuttle?? Who's he playing for and how is he traveling??

He had a shoulder reconstruction and has played no rugby at all this year. He is currently involved in coaching at his old school Nudgee. Reports were that he would be ready late season to play colts for his club Brothers, however most likely will sit out the season.

Holmes, Simmons, Gill, Tapuai and Lucas all playing for Sunnybank tomorrow against Norths. Could have used them a few weeks ago.

Uni has the best value canteen in Bris! Heavies deal = burger + 2x drinks for $10.

Uni vs Souths ref ruined a great game! Disappointing that this quality can continue to be appointed at this level! Review the tape QRU - disgraceful!

Matt O'Brien (yes, Paddy's son) was officiating that game Breakdown. Perhaps in the future all clubs could have a Matt O'Brien special of 12 whiskey shots - neat.
