While it's good to hear the rehab is going better than expected I would much rather he had a full pre-season than be rushed back underdone into the wobs to patch up the back row.

Any word on Billy Valentini (sp?) from Quins? If my memory is right, he just won player of the year in the Dewar comp, but not sure if he is signed to the Rebels EPS.
Anyone know his status? He looks like a real talent.

While we do need players with wheels out wide, we really do need to be looking at our flyhalf depth. I hope we've been sounding out young players like Horwitz (sp?), Ihaia West and similar.
Ihaia West from Hawkes Bay would be a good pickup, although I feel that he is a year or two off being ready for a regular run on jumper in Soup Rugby. He has been tearing it up in the ITM Cup.
His problem is that there is a fair traffic jam of decent #10's ahead of him in NZ, and that may be something that the Rebels can use to their advantage. Unfortunately unless he commits to having a lash for the Wobs, his position with the Rebels would be one less position that is available to develop a young up and coming Aussie #10.
Short term gain for Rebs is not always in Wobs long term interests.
Keep your bloody mitts off Horwitz.

Unfortunately the only home game I couldn't attend was the Rebels vs Highlanders in Rd 20 on 12/07/13.
Does anyone have a copy of this game in HD that they could share.

If they updated the photos for the season those guys may have been unavailable during the shoot day. This happens to at least 2-3 guys in each squad every year and usually results in some pretty hilarious photoshopping by the franchise interns.

Just checked the Rebs players profile page and it turns out it isn't just the picture missing, but their entire bio. On the flip side there are only 21 player bios up on that page right now, including 4 EPS guys. Hegarty is also listed at a 15 still, whole page is a bit of a mess it would seem at the moment.

I agree with Eyes and Ears I don't think they will be at the Rebels next year. The photos are still 2013 photos. Sitauti had not re-signed before he went to ITM Cup and I haven't heard anything about him re-signing since then. We have also signed Veainu (spelling?) since then. We signed Ellison who I assume will play at centre instead of Sidey.
I am not too fussed about Sidey but we don't have a lot of depth at 12 and 13. Disappointed re Sitauti, he has some pace and shows potential.

I had heard Sidey was let go a few weeks ago, was from a good source but was waiting for some confirmation.

Bit of a shame about Sidey, he was actually coming good at the tail end of last season. He will never be a star but you know what you are getting with him, handy bench and injury cover so I wouldn't have minded seeing him in the squad at all.

The following from yesterday's Rebels newsletter from Rob Clarke is not specific, but does mention both playing roster and website issues:
"Decisions regarding player and staff recruitment and retention are never easy, and always involve hours of assessment and careful consideration. We have made some significant decisions regarding both in the recent months, and I want to reassure you that every decision has been made with the single-minded goal of building a sustainable winning culture, both on and off the rugby field.
The Club is currently investing in the upgrade of our CRM system and website to ensure we can provide better communication and service to you, our Members, and this is due to be 'live' within weeks."

I wouldn't read too much into it just yet. The website also still shows JOC (James O'Connor) and Beale in some of the background wallpaper.
From my previous post, it looks like it is being given an overhaul and we will see the new look site in a few weeks.

Two sources at the Rebels this season mentioned that he was part of the JOC (James O'Connor)/Beale/Cipriani crew. Perhaps that may have something to do with it if he has been let go.
He certainly doesn't have the talent for a club to just put up with it.
