Amazed they didn't score a bit earlier! They had to work hard for that try, good finish from Higgers.

I reckon that scoreline flatters the Rebels edit: flatters the Cheetahs! not Rebels!, they were that well beaten.

Wonderful to see that last try originated from a player using his feet in a ruck to win the ball. A long forgotten skill.

Anyone explain the cheetahs try? The first one. Why no obstruction. Maul but no defenders attached so not a maul?

We won't get a chance to see this in the second half but I was hugely impressed by Laurie Weeks's scrummaging. I spotted him playing 2nds Colts about 6 years ago and started telling people he would play 50 Tests. He was on track for this before he elected to take Harold Mitchell's money and switched to Melbourne from the Reds. A side issue was his insistence on being able to play for Sydney Uni in club rugby which Ewen McKenzie would not agree to.

With the Rebels he was cast as back-up to Greg Somerville and didn't seem to overly push himself. Very early days, but on the basis of this first performance he seems ready to finally achieve his potential. Great body height, packing very deep under the new Laws, and looks fit. Worth keeping in mind.

And a THP - the position most in need of someone to put their hand up for the Wallabies.

Headbutting a prone player on the ground with your whole body diving on him - should be minimum 12 months.

He won't get that long. U can't see his head come in contact with the rebels player. I hope he gets the season. Will serve him right

Well done, Rebels. Thoroughly entertaining Friday night display.

Plenty of energy with their 8 debutants. Keen to see how they go on the road given that together their 3 trial wins they're undefeated in '14. I reckon that plenty of sides are going to come away with few points from AAMI Park.

Great to see plenty of youthful talent being developed south of the border. Augurs well for building depth for the Wallabies.
