The try he scored off Beale is a good example he was outside of KB (Kurtley Beale),saw the hole ran a big unders line & KB (Kurtley Beale) gave it to him.
He read it, he was there, he made it happen.
He understands where he needs to be,which us more important than being fast, strong or having good footwork.
But he does some of that as well.
And he can fucking catch.
Bag him all you like.
We are quite chuffed with him,to very honest.

Missing the point. Was that try scored due to a result of Folau or Beale's work and in light of this who will be talked up more in the media tomorrow. I dare say they will be saying Folau is in rare form, he is unstoppable. Again at no stage have I said Folau is not a good rugby player I am perhpas more impressed with the work of the other 14 guys making him the star.

Ok I get home and find out fox aren't doing a replay. Fuck you Rupert. YouTube it is. I'm not really hearing positive noises from reading this thread. I will need beer to soothe the pain

I have to agree with most here. If it was so easy to get tries by being the last man to get it everyone would do it. Being in the right spot to support is very important in any team sport. If you want a good individual try the last one against the ponies had me hopping. The aussies have lost this ability lately and it is one of the things that make the kiwis number one. They make a line break and three or four blokes are running in support. Recently the wobs are lucky if we can get support there on time to clean out.

As for the game tonight, it was the sme as the saders. We turn over the ball too easy in attack and do not seem to have much variety in attack. We did not knock on much against the cheetahs but the real difference for me is we offloaded lots and held on to them. It must not have been in the game plan because we don't offload much now and when we do the receiver does not seem ready for it and drops it more often than not.

It could be a very long season of this is the game plan and it does fit in with every other team TT has had a hand in. We may need a bad season to get rid of him but unless we can add much more in attack I really cannot see us winning many more.

Probably the first step - protect and retain the plucking ball!

On a positive side, defense was good in the first half and the ref sent Roberts off. I don't care what he does in training, or what he is supposed to bring to the side , I think we would be slightly better off if we gave him to the opposition and played 14 v 16

For those coming to The Local Taphouse make sure you aren't wearing your jersey. They don't let people in if you are wearing one.
It happened to a couple of friends if mind after the trial match.

Not just jerseys. Tried to get in after the game wearing a Tahs polo, but refused entry. Security said owner issued policy to ban anyone wearing with a team logo after 8pm.

I am guessing you were either a 9 or a piggie, cos you have no idea about hole running.
There was no hole until IF changed direction.those guys he beat so easily were running hard to shut down options outside of KB (Kurtley Beale).
Take a bow Izzie!

Last weekend was a fair dip against a supposedly quality outfit. No rights to score that. Good enough?

The try against the Brumbies required some work by Izzy. I raise you his first and second try against the Force, first and second try against the Reds. On the end of the final pass run to the line. No other players could possibly have scored those trys? Maybe the commentary should be Izzy on the end of some great lead up work by........

Maybe I just don't like the media blowing smoke up his ass for good team play.

Spoke to the manager (I was in front of Badger and didn't know he couldn't get in, sorry B). The Local Taphouse have a dress code for Friday and Saturday evenings: no footy jumpers, or shirts, after 8:00pm. Now we know.

Would you believe Pfitzy, A PROP TO BOOT, had the nouse to take off his Tahs jumper and march in wearing a black t-shirt! Wonders never cease.....

Yeah, maybe. If you can't see he's good, maybe you can't be arsed.

While it's true he's had some easy tries, that one (below) would be close to try of the season so far.

Magic from Folau – swerve, glide, stutter-steps, change of pace – he makes good defenders look stupid.

Beats tackles from To'omua, Coleman, McCabe, and then "noddy" White had no chance.

Ok, how can we make TIP the forum beer bitch?
Two birds one stone.
Will keep the forumites hydrated,at the same time as ticking the scoreboard over.
Fancy taking one for the team big guy?

I don't think I have all the assets to be a first class BB ILTW. But happy to do my best for the cause. Taking orders for the Bulls game...

Just back from the game, haven't seen it on TV. Arrived home very happy after the G&GR meet-up followed by a five point result. Some thoughts:
  • I think the intensity of the game we are playing is starting to take a toll in fatigue. Last week was test-match intense and I think our recovery was not really complete for tonight. We've got a 7-8 day break before the Sharks
  • That said, we have five points in the bag and some wonderful tries; we left at least another three out there tonight.
  • People knocking Beale for his last two performances fail to see just how good the opposition was. Tonight, in the second half, he cut the Rebels to pieces; last week he had McCabe, this week Inman and both are noted defenders.
  • Those who think Izzy is "just a finisher" should ask why other players don't pop up in the same places. His is a rare skill, comparable IMO to that of Mark Ella who used to "just" appear out of nowhere to finish something off.
  • Lineouts are still a disaster. We haven't looked like winning an opposition throw for weeks and its heart-in-mouth stuff every time Taf picks up the ball to throw.
  • There was one maul where Douglas was pinged for coming around the side when I thought there was always a Rebel forward bound outside him; this is by def'n through the middle. Did those with Fox see the same?
  • The next three games are critical. We need two wins and two bonus points in the next three weeks. Given that its the Sharks, Stormers and the Force on the way home that's a huge ask but its what we need to overtake the Brumbies. I think the Force game is a real banana skin - a bad loss waiting to happen as a result of travel fatigue and the two best SA teams in their fortresses. After that it gets a bit easier in the run up to the bye.
and you wrote this after watching the game... at 11.23pm...quality post ....you guys know my opinions on izzy, skelton can i add beale....i'm building 2015 piece by piece on x factor

Where's all the Kurtley haters at? Probably hibernating for another month or so until he has a slightly off game.

The shit talked about him last week makes me ashamed of the sport.

Ummmm you played last place team on the table... People didnt talk shit about him after last week.. It was McCabe and To'omua smacking him, which made alot of people think De Villiers Noun and SBW would be too much.. but hey he beat the all time great Mitch Inman in the second half..

It was a great try but it was open space the Brumbies where at 6 and 7's chasing it.. I believ the Tahs should in opp 22 use this more often.. Pass it to Izzy... Although Im not sure I'd put money on anyone who says let me beat McCabe To'omua Coleman and White in one run... Fantastic player, His tries arent always this good but he is reading the game fantastically..

... Try of the years Mogg's chip and chase, burning izzy isnt easy

Yeah, brilliant speed by Jesse to burn Izzy but reckon it was a bit fortunate to be awarded. ;)

I've dug up that article from last year on Moggs' 40m sprinting. He's rapid alright:

..... Not usually prone to hyperbole, renowned Brumbies performance director Dean Benton lauded Mogg's development over the past 18 months. Moggs latest test results surpass any Benton had encountered across the three major football codes in Australia. Mogg's results put him on par with famed Springbok flyer Brian Habana.
"Jesse attained a max speed of 10.06m/sec at the end of pre-season this year," Benton said.
"This is the fastest maximum speed I have seen recorded by any player, of any code, anywhere in the world to my knowledge. When he arrived here he had a max around 9.7m/sec -- so it is a substantial improvement in such a short space of time." .....

Stirling Mortlock (74)
10.06 eh? Running the 100m at his max speed the whole time would only net a 9.94. I wonder what Usain's max speed is.
