Have I heard correctly that Jaco Peyper is the referee tonight?

If so, how could the IRB appoint someone so obviously imept to a match like this?

Same way they could put the worst combination of ARs and TMO into it as well. Berry. Poite. Veldsman behind the monitor.

And the real issue is that the IRB tend to keep the gang together for the series, rotating the positions around.

We could see Poite in charge with Peyper and Berry as AR in Auckland. Yee Gods.

PR tipping Wobbs by 3, ESPNScrum AB by 7. Interestingly NZTAB odds on AB have come in to $1.50 (Wobbs $2.45) but at the same time the points start has come in from 5.5 a coupla days ago to 4.5 this morning.

Really, really nervous about this one but I think we'll get the job done by 3.

It's because he got in the mid-400s for school bursary (an insanely high score), he's outfoxing the refs.

Forget the game but I do recall him once explaining a rule to a ref & why the ref was therefore wrong to have pinged him. Also seem to recall one of the comm team saying "he's right, you know". Knows the Laws better than most which is why he's able to push them as far as he does.

You start to lose credibility when you use the Comms as expert witnesses. Most of them use terms like "double-movement", "downward pressure" and so on, and show pretty poor knowledge of the laws. Of course, there are occasional exceptions.

Well, that's good news that one Smith is out, and not for a harmful reason but a nice one.

Fekitoa won't bring a lot of joy to the Wobs but the Tahs contained him well enough—he has to be nabbed before he gets going.

And Nonu and he are similar players which means that the NZ midfield won't have the yin and yang that Ma'a and Conrad have.

There's not too many other straws to clutch onto.

I am concerned about the Aus back three as a unit: there is more to rugby than running with the ball in hand. This wet weather in Sydney would have the ABs kicking even more than they would because of the attributes of our 11 and 14—and I doubt their abiltity to play that game well.

If anybody is going by the stadium as the Kiwi bus arrives and they have a cricket bat in their hands at the time, try to give Ben Smith a couple of sweep shots to his knee caps before you are smashed by the front rowers.

That sounds like a plan.

Not worried at all but the kicking aspect. We have White, Beale, To'omua, Folau. If NZ still had Dagg we'd be in trouble but it's Ben Smith. Savea kicks as well as Horne/McCabe.

Selecting Smith suggests that (a) we intend running the ball out've our 22, initially at least, rather than trying to carve off 40m from the get-go; and (b) there will be a fair few chips over the wingers' heads & probably the odd up&under targeting Beale who's shite under the high ball. Both are fraught with danger IMO unless executed to perfection, last thing we need is gifting AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Folau & Hooper easy ball.

Bring it on..as you say, fraught with danger with Folau and co hanging around there with him..

Yeah, that's my main concern, Folau is prob the best I've seen under the high ball so we're gonna have to have it bang on target. Just hope that if it ain't working we have the nous to go to Plan B (& obviously that there actually IS a Plan B).

A coupla people have commented on Rock Peyper Scissors & they're right, how he sees the scrums could be crucial & I reckon I'll be able to hear the screams from here (Hamilton, NZ) if he lets Crockett get away with his (un)usual techniques.

hasn't really rained yet in darlinghurst today - hope its the same out near olympic stadium.
Weatherzone has one big cloud on its way, but the last one sort of split around sydney. The gods might be on our side.
