I reckon the ASRU selectors are waiting to see who comes through the AAGPS and Qld GPS competitions unscathed.

There is still a fair amount of footy to be played in both those comps, with the attendant risk of injury or recovery for those lads who may have been injured at National Champs time.

Predictions:

Shore vs Joeys: Gee, you'd have to expect Joeys get the win in this one after going toe to toe with Scots. Although, Shore have lifted their game in recent weeks, should make for a closer spectacle than if these teams had met earlier in the season. Joeys 32 Shore 17

I feel like Shore could have this one. Joeys faced a weakened Scots team and still struggled through the game despite weak tackles and missing superstars. Whilst johnston and license were apt replacements, they simply did not have the "X factor" of Porter and Crichton.

Shore have been ever improving through out the season and i'd pick them for a close one over Joey's this weekend.

Either way good luck to all teams tomorrow!

ironically the best team in this 15s age group, IMHO would be Scots, by a country mile, if it wasn't for the glengarry effect . although I am sure I will be shot down for suggesting that

I don't know why you'd be shot down. They have half their year group away, so anyone would expect them to be weaker in 15s than would otherwise be the case.

From sources I have gathered that joeys will be without Tom Horton, Nathan gittoes and tom wright. If this is true, it will have a large impact on joeys as they are key players to the side!

either way I might do a match report (of sorts) on Grammar game . so any info on key players to watch out for, please share ..

the 8,10 and 12 are my standouts.

should be interesting to see how the replacement for Tan (gps white) performs.

The Grammar lads came back from being down 12-0 midway through H1. Joeys 3's had plied their trade really well, picking and driving through the middle, with tries going to two of their front row. SGS 1's then scored on the stroke of going to oranges, then again with a lovely sweep down the left flank just a couple of minutes into the 2nd stanza. Accurate conversions and one more try to Grammar through their centres with 10' to go, saw the boys in black home. Good game.

Thanks HM, did you see the game, I know New were missing a few yr12 boys due to the trials, but I would have hoped they still did well in the forwards.

Hi Ted, yes New we're good in the forwards. It was good rugby given the wet weather and TAS did more with the ball. TAS 2nds won 5-0 against New 4ths in another good game.

Progress score in Kings V Scots first XV 24-12 to Scots going into oranges..

Full time score Scots 71-12... A game of two distinct halves.

Kings did a great job containing them in the first half with great commitment at the breakdown and some solid defence.

Scots played the second half with only 14 men following a red card to their 6 for lifting at the tail end of the first half. Despite the reduced team they came out in the second half and just turned it on...the rest as they say in the classics is history....

24 all draw between Joeys and Shore

Great arm wrestle at northbridge... As an independent , i thought 24 all draw was fair result and reflection of great tustle

Joeys completely outscrummaged shore , despite shore arguably having a size advantage,

thought joeys 10 Connor o'shea had a blinder despite some erratic service from Duffy, who IMHO ran hot and cold

Number 13 for shore, played great and some great defence really from both sides

Joeys seemed to blow opportunities on edges with some bad last passes

Joeys probably feel they won as missing some key players

Shame for Connor o'shea that he couldn't slot what was a pretty easy kick, albeit with the heavens opening on cue, and on the bell

Either way , it was a great curtain raiser to the main game
