Loving this. How good is the no TMO and the players seem to be really doing the right thing at the breakdown, leading to a game of rugby breaking out.

I'm at half time watching recorded, but so far it has been excellent.

looks like Kerevi / Kuridrani will become a dangerous combo. Good sign for us Reds fans

There was hardly any more cynical play than any other rugby game. Keep penalties at 2 but conversions back to 2 please

I actually have come around to the three point conversions - it keeps the intrinsic value of kicking high, but attaches it to try scoring instead. It should mean that teams put a lot of effort into their kicking, which is something we need in Australia.

Gee the game stats didn't seem to reflect the thrashing delivered on the scoreboard.

Is Michael Hodge the unluckiest footy player around? Not including the 10 minute cameo tonight, IIRC he has played 1 game in the last two years.

I agree that the 3 point conversion seems overkill, but i suspect the intention is to maintain the importance of having a good place kicker in the team.

Just got back from the game. It was truly a game of two halves.

Kerevi was excellent, apart from a few handling errors and non-passes. His spacial awareness and setting up for players outside him will only get better as the comp continues.

I thought the Stars 13 was exceptional. A couple of big hits in D & attack.

I disagree with the Frisbee statement. I thought he had a bad game, but a few moments of individual brilliance. If you have been frustrated with Genia or White recently, then don't ever put your eggs in Frisbee's basket - his first choice is to kick EVERY time.

Alot of the crowd didn't get in until 15 - 20 minutes through. QRU fucked up big time. They had 4 booths open to buy tickets... and lines were 60 metres long. I'd like to say "wtf were they thinking" but that implies that there was actually some thought to the process.

There was a TMO tonight. He just wasn't used.

Cracking event. Very enjoyable.
Kerevi is obviously. Dangerous runner and is capable of some great subtle touches but he needs time, which he thankfully will get in this comp. Hallelujah

Chris Kuridrani is a good prospect, Ready was impressive at Hooker and Dave Mcduling was ok (looks a bit slow to be a regular back rower at Soup level but showed some good skills at the breakdown for a tall man).

Sorry to hear that. It mirrors the first game of the ARC in 2007 at North Sydney Oval. They drastically, drastically underestimated the number of people wanting to go (maybe they'd been reading online forums peppered with carping negative whiners? ;) ). Lines were long to get in, queues for food and drink were enormous and I recall they actually ran out of beer. So many people had such a bad experience they didn't go back.

Was a good game of rugby, solid crowd to start the season off and everyone was getting into it. Can't wait for some weekend afternoon games, will probably head down to the Gold Coast to see Country next weekend.

Could've been handled better, but at the same time who buys tickets at the door any more? I don't know why you'd wait in line when you could've bought a ticket on your phone and walked right in.

Did Kerevi at 12 remind anyone else of Ma'a Nonu? Hard straight running, breaking tackles left right and centre and in the second half a couple of very good off loads to set up players on his outside.

Don't like the 3 point conversion. Hope this change goes at the end of this year's comp.

Reduced points for penalty goals certainly reduced the number of attempts (to none I think) but didn't seem to increase the instance of cynical play. And no suggestion of YCs either. Looks like a promising development.

Stars are struggling without their Super "stars".

I didn't realise you could but tickets online? They haven't advertised very well so I just assumed it was a purchase at the door only deal.

Well of course the stars didn't take any shots at goal, they're kicker couldn't beat a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

I can't really comment on how they've advertised because I've been actively seeking the information so it's hard to tell what sort of job they've done spreading it, but when was the last time you went to any event that wasn't selling tickets online beforehand?

Did you need a personal letter? There plenty of emails and there was info on the web site.
