I went to watch K Hunt play and a few years later went to watch Quade play at Oaklands.

Maybe your memory is playing tricks?

Would have been great to have had all three, as opposed to just Cooper and Pocock, play in the same team.

I was relying on the missus for the year as our son was there in year 12, and she has a mind like a steel trap (unfortunately).
But maybe it was two years earlier when I had another son in year 12, or even 2 years before that, when my eldest was there, but I doubt that.

I am pretty new to this forum. Out of interest, how many game has BBC firsts won this year?

Only was the 2nd win but they played as a team.
Not a team of individuals.
Was absolute guts to hold on to the end of the game and was the best forward game I have seen them play.
They played with brains and to the game plan against a free flowing back line from GT.
Dempsey again for a little guy played with a heart bigger than himself.
Was great to see them play for each other.
Was uplifting to see the Old Boys enjoying their day at BBC as the college had turned it on with basketball, gymnastics and reunions well done BBC.

BBC won 13A 40 to 5

13A Score was BBC 29 d GT 5 and even that was a little harsh on the GT lads IMO. Make no mistake though BBC were too good and are very good.

I've narrowed it down to Harrison Jennings.
My guess would be lock.
Also, 3 players were promoted from last year's 13B.
Thomas Blackmore, Fraser Nicholls, and Tigger Sykes.

Taipan I think it might be Nawi (not to sure on the spelling ) quietly spoken boy plays on the wing. Won the 100 and 200m at the met north regionals last week.
Another NC U14 track and field star that seems to be flying under the radar on this forum to date is Mitch Wood came 2nd to Nawi in the 200m by half a metre and won the 400m and shot put, he's the captain of the team and plays blindside flanker.

Couple of really impressive events at BBC vGT yesterday:
1) the 9 returning boys from BBC ran onto the field:
2) the 6 year 12s in the team carried Jerumi ( injured game 1 ) to the school tunnel where the 7 of them shared a prayer;
3) after he match - the whole team went to old boys hill and did a war cry in front of a standing ovation from the many many old boys

So that is 9 returning for. BBC plus Darcy Tomoua; Christianson and Foulds who are all out injured. Also Carswell and Stead in 16As played a number of matches in the firsts. So a lot. Back for BBC next year but as we have seen last 2 years that matters diddly squat

Yes Gunter and in the 16A's you have Simpson also.
With a lot more 2nds and 16A players with heart.

Lets hope whoever is coaching in 2015 can get them to play as a team especially with their Japan trip ahead!

Dame Edna? C'mon. Takes a Special coach to get a bunch of champions to play like a champion team. Looks like Gilmore has done that.. sounds like a few people obviously not churchie fans. I like to give credit when it's due

Of course you're right. If you want a perfect example of how a truckload of very good players may not for long periods reach potential as a truly outstanding, consistently winning team just look at the Waratahs until Cheika came along. And the squad Link had in 2010 and 2011 was not drastically different to that the Reds possessed in 2009.

The notion that the mere act of possessing a bunch of elite rep schoolboys players sort of automagically generates a GPS Premiership is farcical. And, btw, on the downside of that point, in some recent pre-2013/14 years Churchie has proven the point to its cost.

Gilmore has been the key difference at Churchie. And then there are some very good Churchie 1sts players too, but in that order.

I have also heard from Churchie parents/people that the boys that have come across in the last few years are some of the nicest lads you will meet, not big headed superstars who think they are bigger than the team. This is another key here and what from what I know, has been missing from some of the earlier favourites this year.

After only missing 3 tips in the First XV competition all season I thought I would challenge myself a bit and follow the sentiments of Monday Ex.

Here are the tips for the U13A's this week. tempered by the fact that I haven't seen many games but have a view of the results thanks to Taipan the man.

TSS V ACGS
The Churchie lads fresh from a Green and Black, Toowong Shallacking last week venture down the coast to take on the 2018 TSS First XV (not really there will be at least 12 new blokes in by then but you know what I mean).
TSS will have their confidence fuller than a Gold Coast Titan on Mad Monday after knocking over Nudgee last week and it will be all too much for the Churchie tackers - TSS by 9

BBC V GT
GT will have started the brain washing early and will have their lads thinking of a victory and burger in the stands watching GT ruin Old Boys Day on Miskin in an hour.That will be a mistake. The BBC outside backs are hotter than a Bombay Madras on Fireworks night from all reports and the scoreboard may get ugly.

Character building day for the Grammar boys ahead. We have all played a game where we get hosed (even the champs)..this is one of them for the fine young lads in Blue - you will all be better for it..

The NC Dads will be grumpier than Darren Hynch doing dry July, and a few of them will look like him too.
The State High Lads will aim some of those big backrowers right at them and the State High Kids will leave Boondall with more than a burger and a bingo mat.

Thanks to BBC and Churchie scoring great wins on the weekend - my First XV tipping was slightly off. But my 13A tipping was on the money.

Not bad compared to the above tips...cue applause...Ippy V BBC will be a cracker in the last round.

Naawi was there last year playing a bit of A's and B's. He has pace to burn and his rugby is improving game by game. Have found 5 boys in this team from the U12 QLD League Team in 2012, Bailey TauTau, Joe Small, Ryan Shepherd, Xavier Soli & Ethan Le Blanc. You are right about Mitch Wood as he has been outstanding this year.

Rugbyhead01: You are 100% right about the level headedness of these young boys. From what Ive seen/know they are also very much aware of the opportunities they have at the school. And Im not only talking about on the footy field.

Smith is no longer at BBC. Rugbyhead01 is right, Gilmore has done what people were wondering if was possible, coach this team with its rugby/league rep stars and coach them well. I questioned whether the team would gel and am happy to be proved wrong. I saw the game against TSS and while TSS came out firing, ACGS always looked in control really. Every player did their job. TSS backs showed some razzle dazzle but in counter, ACGS backs defended frantically. Forwards worked hard. Fox, Scott-Young and Asiata fantastic. Perese and S'ua solid. Croft the winger caught my eye, he is a sure talent I haven't heard much of. The fullbacks tackle was beautiful. However it is easy to talk of the above players, but really the whole team is great. Anyone know how many of them will be back next year?

I hope your right but I doubt it . I said at start of year that no team would get within 30 of NC 14A . BBC got with 19 but no other school has got within 40 points!!

NC were undefeated last year as 13A by a country mile and this year brought in 3 of the best 14 years olds in the country: Tau Tau was wanted by every NRL club but has a scholarship with broncos: ditto Jo Small and the 3rd is the qld rugby league / national T&f star from Bundaberg

Hi Chris, I am unsure where you have sourced your information about Tautau and Small but it is incorrect. Tautau is not on a league scholarship with any club, and he is actually the T&F star from Townsville (current national champ shotput/discus) has been for the past few years. Small is in the same basket, excellent all rounder.

Looking at the 1st XV games this weekend, I think the clash of the two biggest front row packs (TGS and IGS) should be epic. All that would be needed is for it to be raining to make it even better. TGS at home on the hill, just need to keep the IGS backs quiet to come away with this one for a win. Even though both teams aren't in the top 3, it should still be an outstanding/physical game.

For me, the team that has so far come closest to defeating Churchie was TGS at TGS. TGS' forwards work was outstanding throughout the 70 as was their exceptional and accurate line speed in close defence. They clearly had a plan to use their forwards' excellence (both technical and physical) to rattle Churchie's attack and for numerous periods in this match they did just that, skilfully using aggressive defence to yield turnovers and attacking opportunities of their won. Generally, they looked like a very well-coached team that played like a team.
