Most of my thoughts I'll keep for the rankings article this week.

That second half nearly killed me with the aimless kicking. Link has to take one in the sack for probably saying at halftime "do what they did and kick long" without realising we don't have the control to do it.

To'omua is a playmaker though, he set up one try and nearly another......

And if anyone was going to get dropped from that performance it would be Foley who, aside from his goal kicking, was very poor.....

To'omua gave the Boks a try through poor defence, and 3 other points through a shit kick.

Be careful who you aim at. Foley ran the show pretty well overall, though he made errors.

Kearns was on about how class Foley was but I'm with you.

Those Folau kicks are interesting, they look to be landing barely out?

Foley/Beale/To'omua is a real tough one. I have no doubt Foley/Beale is more potent but there's the defensive issues.

Kuridrani had a cracker. He was a real handful in that outer channel. We've still got a lot of issues in the halves, but the flatter style at least saw us get over the gain line.

Commiserations Springbok supporters, that was a shit of a game to lose. Particularly when you played the conditions well and dictated terms for most of the game. Your match against NZ next week should be a cracker, and I bet your boys will come out with intent.

Some thoughts:

  • Our set piece needs work;
  • Our forwards are not fit enough;
  • We don't win enough collisions;
  • Our skills are not adequate;
  • We aren't physical enough at the breakdown to secure clean ball consistently.
If we want to play an up tempo game, then we need to be mega fit, accurate, and skillful. We need to ensure that we are physical enough at the breakdown to secure clean ball to ensure the opposition is constantly on the backfoot. If you miss that bloke burrowing in and digging for the ball, you are not accurate enough. We need to fix this.

We need to make sure we run on to our passes, they hit the chest, we don't drop the fucker, and we support the ball carrier. Basic skills, along with kicking for touch.

Thing is, the players should all possess these attributes by the time they reach Wallaby level. The coach should merely be harnessing and honing these things.

But anyway, a win is a win. :)

Foley's decision making wasn't particularly good and as you said he made a lot of errors, and kicked poorly..........

To'omua certainly was far from perfect, but still did some very good things...........

I think if Quade comes back alright from injury I see Link rushing him back into the side...........
