I'm not going to get carried away giving the Tahs and Cheika credit, because they kept him on the straight and narrow for a single Super Rugby season. As soon as he got back into the Wallabies set up the wheels fell of him again, where he also was suddenly no longer a key player. If it was sustained over a long period that would be a different story.

Link kept Quade on the straight and narrow for 3 seasons after being in trouble, yet nobody is going to reference that in his defense, so for the same reason, I'm not going to give Cheika too much credit yet.

He effectively has been "fired" a few times, Carney style from different teams for his off field indiscretions. But the feeling was he'd come good this year with the 'Tahs - and he had a brilliant season with them to boot.

So what's happened in the Wallabies?

Carney would also have periods of relative stability where you'd think some sort of reform had gone on, then he'd do something completely stupid again.

Your head is still in the sand here, you still can't admit that Beale has most of the culpability in this, which seems pretty evident to most others. How come Carter, who also changed his shirt, isn't in trouble? Probably because he didn't send offensive texts, make snide comments and then get involved in a slanging match on a plane in front of the team. edit: Not to mention he didn't have a long list of priors.

This back and forth is getting tiring for all involved.

I don't think this tread should be in this forum, it's distasteful reflects poorly on the forum..

There is already a thread to talk specifically about Kurtley Beale

It's locked.

I am all for having a thread to concentrate this garbage so it doesn't affect the other threads around the forum, similar to the QC (Quade Cooper) toxic affair.

So you're suggesting Georgina Robinson is making it up? Think that would fly with the editors? And if you do, does that mean you think Robinson and the SMH is party of this surreptitious "campaign"? And if so why?

I think you're being a little naive too to be frank.

Ever heard the phrase "Don't believe everything you read in the papers"? It's been around a long time for good reason.

This latest article is one degree away from the famous setup
"When did you last beat your wife?"

Also note that there is currently only ONE news organisation going down this line and that news organisation has campaigned for KB (Kurtley Beale)'s innocence from day 1 - which we now know not to be true.

I'd keep an open mind for a bit longer

PS - anyone writing these rumours on this forum opens themselves up to real trouble that we won't be able to protect you from

It's not about keeping them on the straight and narrow.
It's what you do when they play up.
A strong manager would have sent him home, had a team meeting and reiterated the team standards .He would have told the group that anyone who was not happy about it could go home with him.
Consensus is great up to a point.
Leadership groups only work when they have tougher standards than the management,

My point is the Waratahs never had to deal with that this year. Can't give them credit for managing something better when they never had anything to manage.

I actually am keeping quite an open mind about all of this, but what has happened to date hasn't just reflected poorly on Beale, but on the entire Wallaby setup.

And yes, of course it's possible Georgina made up the allegations, but again, what is her motive if that's true?

There are an awful lot of questions and not many great answers being provided.

Seriously, how can anybody possibly say that anybody from the media wouldn't publish anything they weren't completely certain about, for fear of ARU backlash?

What the fuck are the ARU going to do? Reduce media access? That's really in the ARU's interests isn't it?

Clearly she hasn't made anything up.
But she is reporting one angle pretty hard, and glossing over another substantial part of the story.
She is going to struggle for team access if there are no casualties I would imagine.

You're not inferring that's what I meant are you? Because it's not. I just want to know what Georgina has to gain from publishing blatant lies. Surely if she did the playing group as a whole could have come out in support of Patston - something that would have massively undermined Georgina

Not everything is sinister. I'd say she was given two versions and chose the one of those who have always given her good stuff in the past, or the version that was going to alienate fewer people that she otherwise had to see on an almost daily basis. Must be tricky trying to extricate herself now.

Doesn't excuse the quality, nor the shameful insinuations of Guinness & Co with the LinkedIn "investigation" shit.

"anything they weren't completely certain about" is different to "blatant lies".

I don't think you can blame Guinness for that. That was a fuck up on Patston and the ARU's part.

I mean FFS it looks pretty bloody suspect when the person at the centre of a story suddenly deletes all public info about them after it emerges their professional profile has been setup by a third party with numerous inaccuracies.

We've all seen what the ARU have said, but who screws up setting up a LinkedIn page and who doesn't check their own profile when someone has done it for you.

It immediately looks like either incompetence or duplicity, and neither are particularly good.

Seriously? Checking qualifications on a website I swear no one uses to proactively discredit the qualifications of a non-player performing a role that most equates to a role where no former (or current at Super Rugby level) holder of that role has EVER held a qualification beyond being male? And all to insinuate that she was unreliable or somehow deserved it?

Bullshit

An utterly piss-poor effort from all concerned: the Quade thread reached the lofty heights of 137 pages while the Kurtley saga stalled at a measly 59. Whomever was involved in this shortfall should hang their heads in shame. :(

Call it whatever you like, but it's sloppy work at best and was handled poorly.

You're right - LinkedIn is a barely used site, but why make it look suspicious with the hasty deletions? Just calmly explain it!
