He's only 20, He has plenty of time to get bigger - if he chooses too.

How tall is McMahon? Think he would be a lot safer option then Hodgson.

Plus like I mentioned before if we have 3 good options plus an okay option in McMahon, then against a player like Matfield that is pretty bloody good.

McMahon's "Official Height and Weight" is 186cm and 100.5kg.

When I saw him after the Reds game (they were doing something with Teddy Bears), I'd be saying he's been measured about 2cm too short, and has put on another 4 or so kgs.

Well 6'1 ain't that bad for a line-out option. And 100kgs is pretty damn good for his current speed and mobility.

McCaw is around 188cm and is more than capable of jumping in the line out and can play any of the three positions in the back row. If Sean gets to around the same weight as Ritchie then I think 6 isn't out of the question at all.

Most international 6's are short locks. Juan Smith, Jerome Kaino, older players like Tom Croft, etc. were all within an inch of 195.

Size isn't the be all and end all. But it's an important consideration.

Higginbotham for example would actually be on the shorter side for 6's I'm pretty sure

I'd certainly like our blindside to be taller than McMahon is and our regular starter (Fardy) is almost the perfect size. Unfortunately he's not available and neither is his replacement, so McMahon or Jones should play there for mine. I still want to see Jones play at eight. I think he could dominate there.

Maybe it's my eyes, but he looks big to me. Those dimensions don't seem right. He looks every bit a 6 to me.

On the ARU homepage (http://www.rugby.com.au/wallabies/Home.aspx) there is a picture of the players standing in line and McMahon is holding the cup. If Hodgson's profile says he's 185cm and Higginbotham 195cm I'd say from the photo that Mcmahon is somehwere in the middle. When you compare him to McCalman 192cm this seems to confirm that he's around 189-190cm. His profile that says he's 186cm is probably cut and paste from his sevens days and maybe he's grown since then.

Based on that photo Kuridrani is way too small to be an international 13. Send him back to the NR .

"an inch of 195"(cm?). Talk about mixing metaphors, how can we understand how big some bugger is when we can't agree on the ruler?

Within in an inch of 195. Ergo 192.5 to 197.5cm.

Interestingly, Liam Messam, who has been an extremely influential Super Rugby player but hasn't consistently imposed himself at international level is 188cm and about 108kg. Richard Hill in fact was the same size, but it's been 6 years since he played at all, let alone at his best.

My point being that range seems to be the norm for international rugby 6's.

Not sure how accurate the last few of these are, but there is certainly a size trend amongst the more successful 8's in the list.

McMahon is on the shorter side, and unlike the shorter guys listed he doesn't carry the weight that makes them mini wrecking balls (although it didn't hamper him on the weekend).

That's quite interesting, because I've actually read that Parisse was closer to the 100-105kg mark previously. I almost mentioned him as an example that size is not everything.

For reference Harinordoquy is 105kg. I always considered him both a tough and influential player.

I think it's important to not Slim your comment "it didn't hamper him on the weekend". The weekend was essentially a tour match. Also it was one match. I think what we have shown is that to consistently have impact over the duration of a career, players have needed to be around the 192cm & 110+kg mark as a 6 or an 8.

If McMahon is named in the Wallabies side this weekend expect an uproar from the Welsh, I'm sure they'll be scouring the rule books to see whether demi-gods are allowed to play test matches.
