I wouldn't write off Quade or Will just yet to O/seas.
If you look at most of the players currently putting up their hand who have been major contributors to the Wallabies, (Horwill, Ashley-Cooper, Kepu, White etc) they are into their 30's after the RWC.
This is all-in-all probably a good thing as it will allow opportunities for the champions of the future.
Genia has only just turned 27 and is just starting a family (more an incentive to stay for the time being), & Cooper is 3 months younger than Genia.
I think it would be more likely that they would stay on.

I think a lot of it will come down to international selections. If Genia/QC (Quade Cooper) reestablish themselves as first choice I can see them staying. If Cheika sticks with Phipps/White, I'd probably pack my bags for France too

White is 24 yo. Do you mean the 2019 RWC?;)

Also, not too sure what the ages of Horwill et al have to do with either Will or Quade taking an overseas contract. They will presumably decide based on what's best for them. If they decide to stay, they should both be in the picture for Wallabies selection in 2016 imo so maybe there will be other reasons if they decide to go.

Both would be missed, Quade most I think, but do they see themselves having a role in the Cheika-ball Wallabies, I wonder?

I thought someone would pick me up on that one. But in White's instance, he's only third in the pecking order behind Phipps & Genea, and probably doesn't see any long term future with the Wallabies.:p

I think Gallen's fight was for charity.

I also believe that SBW only fought when he was between NRL contracts. There has been some push back that they can't get paid to box (or anything else) without it coming under the salary cap.

I didn't realise that... But I seem to remember something about SBW only signing with the roosters after his fight.

I'm a big fan of letting the players box, like you say if it offers a financial carrot or opportunity other codes or comps can't offer then Australian Rugby should embrace it. As long as it doesn't detract from their performance or availability then I really don't see the issue with it..

The sooner the ARU embraces it and puts down in writing the players requirements the happier everyone will be... Maybe some rules like:
-1 fight per season, must be in pre-season
-must not conflict with any trial matches or PR events
-rugby union requirements take priority

If I was the Reds or ARU I would encourage boxing.

The odds of injury dont seem too high and at least you know your player is going to maintain fitness in the off season.

I cant help but wonder (probably unfairly) what could have been if Taps was boxing in the off season. I think since his peak performances of a couple of seasons ago he has never looked as fit, especially at the start of the season.

I hear the Reds are holding an internal trial this weekend. Is anyone on this forum watching them? I'm particularly interested in the following for the trials and early season games...
K. Hunt - more excited about him than I was about Izzy, mainly due to the skill set he has as well as the rugby brain which Izzy doesn't quite seem to have.
JOC (James O'Connor) - I hear he has only trained once since he has been back? Apparently carrying quite a few injuries, turned up to first training and pulled out after that. Wondering when he will be fit again? Backing him to be a stand out winger for Aus if he is injury free.
Backrow performance - great battle for the starting positions this year. Wondering if the signing of Tui is a fizzier or a stroke of genius. Hope he can be a powerful runner and Browning, McDuling & Lolo developed and gained confidence in this area over the offseason.
Sautia & Kerevi - are they both still on the injury list? fingers crossed they can put a season together.

Tapuai and McDuling also out injured. In regards to Quade they should have just let him box he probably would'nt have sustained the injury.

Hate to tell you blokes but JOC (James O'Connor), Simmons and McIntyre are all ruled out for at least another month each player. My bet is that they will play Genia at 10 and Frisby at 9.
