I did actually read it and it's a bit confusing but the wording is "present on match day" or something to that effect. It indicates strongly that you can be captured just be being part of a squad in this way. Look it up and see what conclusion you come to.

I don't believe that is correct..
But If that is the case then we can appease all the Naiyaravoro fans and just include him in the match day squad out of the 23.

Section 8 from some document on world rugby website

For the purposes of this Regulation, a Player is deemed to have played for the senior fifteen-a-side National Representative Team or the next senior fifteen-a-side National Representative Team of a Union if:(a) He is selected for such team to play in an International Match against the senior fifteen-a-side National Representative Team or the next senior fifteen-a-side National Representative Team of another Union (or in a fifteen-a-side international Match against another Union’s senior or next senior Touring Squad during a World Rugby approved International Tour) and is present at the Match played by that team either as a replacement, substitute or a playing member of that team and has, at the time of the Match, reached the age of majority; or(b) He is selected to represent a Union’s senior Touring Squad on an International Tour which includes an International Match or Matches approved by World Rugby and is present at any fifteen-a-side Match played on that International Tour either as a replacement, substitute or a playing member of a team selected from the Union’s senior Touring Squad and has, at the time of the Match, reached the age of majority; or(c) He is selected to represent a Union’s next senior Touring Squad on a World Rugby approved International Tour and during that International Tour he is present at a Match against the senior fifteen- a-side National Representative Team or the next senior fifteen-a- side National Representative Team of another Union either as a replacement, substitute or playing member of a team selected

I think its suggesting that in addition to caps at senior, 7s, or a squad level, being selected for an international tour, such as the November internationals for SH sides, June internationals for NH sides or the RWC locks you into an international side, regardless of whether you are in tge 23 for any of those matches.

Like McKibbon in 2013, or English and Godwin last year.

My take is a replacement or substitution is numbers 16 to 23 and playing member is numbers 1 to 15 or any substitution who actually takes the field.

Sounds like they are picking up uncapped members of the matchday 23. That's generally referred to as the "matchday squad".

It's confusing because of how they now refer to the team list. Using the term squad implies reference to the entirety of the touring party, but I don't think that's the case.

Randomly, Yesterday reading the courier mail about Quade's GF it said he was signed with Toulon.. Wasn't in the sports section.. But take that as you may... probably nothing but got my interest..

He's going to Toulon. I don't see how he doesn't with that handshake picture. Reds are surely waiting until the end of the season to announce it. I don't buy into his mind isn't made up at all, just PR bullshit to keep Reds fans hopeful.

I'd consider a signed contract more of an indication than a picture. You'll be interested to know this picture did in fact not result in Adam Ashley-Cooper going to Toulon.

But it was never advertised as a picture of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) going to Toulon? He visited Drew & Gits and put on a Toulon shirt for kicks.. bit different to doing a handshake picture with the owner of the club.

Well unless Quade was going back before he signed the contract (which I doubt), would they have not have needed to take one during his visit if they wanted to publish it when he signed?

In which case it sounds like them taking one to have ready when he signed, confident they had made him a very enticing offer.

Yeah pretty easy to explain the pic either way. I'm happy to believe that his future is undecided until it's announced. I certainly am not going to hold the view that he is gone on the basis of that one picture.

I think having McIntyre and Greene in the Reds 23 is Knuckles way of saying no more jerking around, one of these blokes will be our 10 next season with Frisby at 9.
