Absolutely, and it will remain part of the game in the future irrelevant of what people think. I was fortunate enough to know most of the boys your talking about from last year, and for me personally seeing those guys develop over the last 4 years has been a privilege. TBH I will watch a 1st XV game over any other level of union including those at the elite level.

Exactly right. There are 3 of them from last year's premiers gracing the 20s league comp I think. Attached an article on S'ua who is set to be running around on the GPS fields again this year, even though he is obviously excelling in league. I think he has always been a leaguie though and only new to rugby as I have seen him playing league at a younger age in rep teams.

There is only 2 currently playing NYC, 1 at the Storm & Sua. Sua has been a leaguie all his life, played juniors at Logan Brothers. Once GPS union starts he wont be playing NYC, after union he will go back to the Broncos.

good to see the lad staying at school then and not thinking his footy will get him through like a lot of league boys I have seen over the decade. Are there many decent leaguies new to the GPS comp this year, anyone know? Especially the firsts?

I'm very confident in saying its largely due to "Free school fees" just quietly..
Don't know a great deal of others at present but Churchies captain from last years brother will be in the mix. Said to be a better player but I haven't seen him myself. Broke his jaw in last CC Cup game this year so hopefully his on the improve.

BSHS scouting Grade 6 League ?

What the ?

What's next Sperm Rights ?

The boy in question has just turned 10 believe it or not!!!

Another thing I was unaware of is some jrl clubs quarantine players.
Meaning if a boy wants to leave club A to go to club B, the family or club B have to pay club A a resleasing fee.Ive heard figures up to $3k pending on ability. This occurs from 14 yr olds and above

Bad Dream,
I get it and I agree with you, but it's part of the game now.
Plenty of good Leagies have graced a GPS First XV Jersey in Brisbane and Sydney over the years.
The GPS Premiers last year had one of the better ones to go through in recent times.
The good thing is we get to watch them on a Saturday afternoon playing real Rugby and to cheer them on while they do it!
3 of the better ones...

6 BBC boys (7 with the caveat of Ikitau) in the Qld Schoolboys run on side. BBC must be near certainties to take out the GPS title again this year ;-0

TSS must be near certain to take away the wooden spoon with no candidates in the side?

Nice stir BAG. That will have the Toowong Lexus Drivers confused!
But let's be honest. BBC were never a hope of a premiership last year and only the most deluded of their stoic supporters thought so.

The Bingo Benefactors are hot, hot favorites, closely followed by the Glowmesh Set. BBC could do it, but need absolutely everything to go in their favor on game day. A good start is Ippy and TSS at home in the first 2 rounds, but the trip out to Boondall could deflate the party balloons pretty quick.

Made no difference last year OR the year before-when they had 2 Aussie schoolboys and 5 Qld reps.

A star team will beat ..........(you know the rest)

Well said & correct.
Southport building very nicely-with 8 or 9 back remind me of ACGS in 2013.

1. Gavin Luka NUDGEE QLD 1
4. Reece Hewat NUDGEE QLD 1 (captain)
12. Calvin Pritchard NUDGEE QLD 1
These Qld players are all returning with national champs experience and will
undoubtedly be in the squad. This year will be Hewats third year in QLD 1 so he will captain coming back from a standout season for Australia last year.

Above taken from NSW thread on Aust Schoolboys 2015.
I have to agree -if the big 3 stay fit then NC will be very hard to beat.
Pritchard at last looks fit and injury free. His match -ups with Sua (ACGS) and Ikatau (BBC) will be huge.

100% correct sir

Absolutely GPS 1st XV is easily the most entertaining form of Rugby IMO.

Actually I reckon U15/U14 A's are next in line as well

You've never watched an AIC game before have you? AIC is not even close to GPS in terms of talent but there are players this year who are amazingly talented and 1-3 which have solid shots at QLD. There is only 1 I know of who will have a certain QLD spot, Tom O'Toole from Padua College who is in year 11 this year but played Combined States last year while in year 10. I'd like to see him pair up with Gavin Luka as the starting props for QLD 1.
