Riverview Newington 17-31, View had lead into 2nd half but couldn't hold on to New's 19 unanswered points.

Good performances by Sepessa Tarogi-Logi (15), Simon Kennewell (13) from New

Good performances by Will Terry (13) and Dominic Mete (14) who scored 3 tries in the first half including a chip and chase for the 3rd.

Newington had a great second half scoring 24 points. No 12 was the star for Newington. The rest put in a strong team effort.

Tips For This Week:

Shore vs Joeys: Joeys by 30+, as usual Shore will go out against Joeys aiming to loose the game.. Not a lot of promise at Shore this year..

Scots vs Kings: Scots 40+, Kings will be just as good as last year (terrible).. Scots have too many players from last year..

Newington vs Riverview: Riverview by 3, this should be a close one.. Not alot of promise in either team but should be a good hit out..

one out of three predictions coming to fruition.....better polish that rose colored crystal ball Captain....

i find it interesting that despite Kings beating Scots 35-19 today in the 1sts the win doesn't appear to have rated more than one mention on this thread.....very strange but not unexpected.....but just to give this story some additional color....Kings beat Scots in 16a's, 4thXV, 3rd XV, 2nd XV and 1st XV......and a host of other junior games.

We are watching the Tahs Azzuri!

Good win but who was playing in the Scots team? Were they resting some players, was it the full team, was it complacency or did Kings have a cracker? See we are interested.

Any match reports for this game? How does the 3rds comp look for this year? Standouts?

Not sure about match reports, but standouts in the 1s were 13 he had speed to burn and ran in two run away tries, 10 looked sharp as always and controlled the game well, 6 ran well, broke through the line on many occasions and was good at getting offloads away........ for high there was little positives to take out of the game, they were physically dominated by the stronger grammar opposition, the high 10 played well in what was otherwise a poor game for the team.

Not sure how the thirds comp is shaping up, i think grammar played well and showed themselves as serious contenders, and high looked average at best, far from their form in the season last year

Yes Scots played their under 13's 8th XV and rested the entire first XV as they were "only" playing Kings..... I'm sorry but I find your questions ingenuous and contrived to imply a substandard Scots team and detract from Kings performance....for the record Kings played very well against a "new" Scots first XV which still comprises 8 of last years first XV plus some excellent players who have stepped up from 16a's and 2nds.....

I hear the Joeys 9ths are the team to watch - they beat Kings 9ths 120-0 today, with 20 tries and only 10 conversions! Could have easily have been 140.

what was the Scots team list for today? Was it their best team?

I'm actually not sure why you would ask such a question when the pre-round 1 trials and the first game of round 1 are used as selection trials to pick the GPS rep squads.....

Relax. Not taking anything away from team win but asking legitimate questions as Scots, from last year, are the favourites for this year. Missing any key player at this time of year can make a difference just look at View when Jack Mcgregor doesn't play. So did Scots have a full team or are any players out with injury i.e. Girdler, Smith with shoulder reconstruction from last year etc etc etc.

No one from Scots is posting so this is the first real look at them.

Good win to the Tahs and Kings in the final trial. When a certain GPS team loses, this thread goes silent. When that same wins, this thread comes alive. Azzuri, it's easy to work out that this thread is really an email exchange amongst contributors from 1-2 schools. This is ok but makes it irrelevant. Don't bother.

Relax????.... Well I wasn't before the game but was much better after.... Thanks for asking. No one at kings is counting their chickens on the strength of a trial. in fact far from it. Yes it was a trial with no sheep stations at stake.. But it was far from trial game standard....and at Scots home ground.....and from what I saw I believe most if not all the returning firsts were playing ....yesterday,..... Strang, girdler et al. To quote Snoop Dogg (a first for this site I believe) "Haters are gunna hate" and while the season has not yet begun in earnest my prediction is that this years comp will be much closer than some of the dismissive correspondents on this thread will ever allow themselves to believe.

All scots players from last year except number 5 Ryan McCauly played he is out with an ankle injury ....... Azzuri is correct Kings were by far the better side yesterday particularly in the forwards and have staked a claim as contenders for the shield ........ They throughly deserved the win ...... Last year Scots was the most prepared team yesterday they looked the least prepared ....... I saw no Smith or Blackburn yesterday .......

Hello all,
Do any of my fellow scribers have team lists for round 1 that they are willing to share.
Would be much appreciated
