I'm not sure what to say about this decision.
As a Tahs fan I'm not really bothered by this.
But as looking at it from the point of how it will effect the overall standing of rugby here in Australia. If the Reds have another season like the last 2.
I wonder how the back room boys in St Leonard's are taking this decision.
Lastly I have a question for the QRU board do they really think RG will be able to attract quality players. (Who are they going to get to play 10 ).

I'm sure they are at the very least a little pissed off it happened the day before the launch of the NRC which the ARU decided to have at Ballymore tomorrow.

I don't normally drop in to this thread with anything useful to say but I just saw this tweet and it should temporarily make a few of you smile.

"What we will be measured on next year is winning football games and having sustained success. What I know is fans, during the course of the next number of months, will still love their team.

"To make a decision that simply appeases them, for a moment in time, for us as an organisation is a weakness of our process. We need to deal with the fact that we've made a decision that will be seen by some as unpopular. We need them to feel we've made the right decision and that won't happen overnight."

Carmichael conceded the one-year deal would put immense pressure on Graham to turn around the fortunes of the 2011 Super Rugby champions.
"The one-year . the frank truth is . we need to be sure we've got it right. What it does also is put him under enormous pressure to win football games each weekend.

"That requires him to build relationships and the leadership and maturity of his list. Previously, he had far too many responsibilities. That's the reason for the one-year deal."

This is absolute delusional arrogance. I feel sorry for any one who works at the Reds that loves the team because this bloke has lost the plot. Could not give a shit about the fans because we are not across all the inside politics........we just pay to watch the team lose.

If I was Woody I'd be half arsing the job and looking for a new one. This is unfair on him as there is no way he can succeed with the list we have for 2016 and the fact that history shows he is a very poor coach. Winning games is the priority and we have lost most of our good players so Woody will be gone anyway.

Imagine if you were one of the applicants that missed out. You would be too embarrassed to tell anyone.
I might have a eastwood logo but I attend more games at Suncorp than I do in Sydney. I will still attend games to support the players and the game but this decision is madness.

I was going to make kind of that point.

I actually feel a bit sorry for Richard Graham in all this. He is on a hiding to nothing, and all he has done is his best. It was clear years ago that this isn't really good enough (happens to plenty), but he just keeps getting re-appointed.

His utterly understandable urge to put food on the table has kept him coming back for more. And he keeps getting let back in the building!! And now he will be abused, but it's not his fault they keep bringing him back.

Fucking outrageous!

I won't be attending any Reds' games next season.

I'm sorry Carmichael, but your electorate is a bit smarter than you give them credit for.

The only thing the Reds will be winning next year is the Woody Spoon.

QRU. Go forth and multiply

How many people are required to get the WE ARE RED chant going? Suncorp is pretty big but has excellent acoustics. Are the families of the players (the only ones I assume who will go to the games) enough to get it ringing out?

Considering the ages in the squad better hope Mum and Dad rope in the Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Time for the Reds 2017 thread?
No way, as a bit of a dismal pillock I love this miserable goddamn thread, I must do because I dont give a flying fuck about the QLND Redds and yet I always read the sad bastard updates here.

Plus now that the Auckland Blues have jettisoned their R.Graham, the Blues thread will have precious little to whinge about (face it, conflict is the grist and gruel which fuels the message board turbines) as they ascend like champions back up the table to their rightful playoff-bound position

And he keeps getting let back in the building!!

Awesome.
By the time all you fair weather supporters slink off I'm gonna be left with the best seats in the house and no queue for my beers.
It's not the players fault - I'll still support them.

I still find this as offensive as when it was leveled at me over my criticism of the Tahs and NSWRU. Funny how time has proved me right.

I am just as offended by your comment as I know some of those regular posters you deride and you couldn't get a more committed bunch of rugby tragics. These blokes support the game for the game, and whilst attached to the Reds emotionally they aren't blind to what is happening.

As for supporting the players, expressing any support for failed coaching and structures is actually condemning those players to lost years in their careers as they do not receive the professional tuition they need to achieve to their potential.
