So the Rebels Team Rehab loos like the stuff nightmares are made of>
  • Nic Stirzaker (Shoulder): 1 – 2 weeks
  • Cam Crawford (Hamstring): 1 – 2 weeks
  • Scott Fuglistaller (Hip): 2 – 3 weeks
  • Colby Fainga’a (Elbow): 3 – 5 weeks
  • Mike Harris (Quad): 9 – 11 weeks
  • Reece Hodge (Quad): 4 – 5 weeks
  • Tim Metcher (Hamstring – 2015 NRC): Indefinitely
  • Sefa Naivalu (Leg – 2015 Super Rugby): Indefinitely
Anyone care to have a stab at a team? I would:
  • Drop Timani to the bench
  • Cummins to start with Jones at Lock
  • Jordy to 6, Thomson to 8 (with extra stick gloves)
  • 6-2 split on the bench, with Retalliak on the pine with Jeffries.
  • Placid at FB
Other than that, keep as-is from last weekend.

Brutal. Someone jinxed us earlier when they commented on our golden run of injuries last season,

We should hopefully be down to Metch, Mike and Sefa after the first bye.

I'd think/hope we'll see: Placid, Shipperly, Ellison, Inman, English, Jack, Bip, Toby, Chibba, Weeksy, Cummins, Jeffries, Jones, McMahon (c), Thomson
Res: Pat, Cruze, Hagan, Timani, Reid, Snowden, Hawkins, Matsushima

I want Jordy to start, but I just don't think we can afford it from a balance point of view.

I'm hopeful of a different Reds team to come out this week. I don't think they will suddenly be world beaters but I think they might be in better spirits and be willing to have a go. MOC telling MaIntyre to run straight would be a great start.

Reds by 3.

That's a hell of an injury list but it speaks volumes of your squad that your starting side is still quality!

I think that Reds team makes sense. Browning has been poor and I thought K was better at fullback in Rd 1 than Goramaru was last week.

I like the run on team. The bench doesn't exactly inspire me though. I get the feeling that in a tight game, if the bench needs to be used there aren't enough impact players to close it out but I understand its a bi product of the cattle the Reds are working with.

Browning has been good, it's just he isn't a 7 and we need someone who will get on the ball, force a turnover or slow their ball. As the King said in the Reds thread, I think Browning has been going better than Schatz and deserves a starting spot but Jake's lineout work is bloody hard to overlook. Hope Setu goes well, it's a big test and a big opportunity for him!

I also think Hunt's best position is 12 and that Goro was solid at fullback. I don't think that Ant offers enough to switch our best performing back out of his best position just yet and should come back to the XV through the bench as most players do.

Stiles making his mark early IMO moving an in form Daley to the bench in favour of his Brisbane City boy, Sef. I don't have any qualms about the selection but it's a bit non-RG and stood out accordingly.

I'm taking the Co-Interims at face value at this point. MOC: “With Karmichael (Hunt), he has demonstrated his best position for the team at the moment is at fullback."

I'd have him at 12 too Scoey, but I'm running with the boys and looking forward to seeing Ant start again.

Forward selections are a definite departure from RG. Bold, but it's time to start re-building. Big day for Fa'agase, Ready, Mafi. Huge for Setu! Be big, bloke!

PS I dont suppose the U20 game is being streamed? Come on Rebels, you know you can. :)

Will be interesting to see how the Reds will come out on Saturday, player moral boosted with the departure of RG and all that kind of stuff.

Any Reds fans travelling down for this one?

You can definitely see a post-Graham tint to that team selection in both the forwards and backs.

I suspect that when Goru comes on, Hunt will shift to the centres anyway and AF or Kerevi will sub off. Probably AF as he's short on match fitness.

If they had Gill in there I might fancy that with a post-Graham spring in their step, against this depleted, travelling Rebs side they might be in with a chance. But the Rebels side is still strong (not least in ex-Reds) and Rome wasn't built in a day. Tipping the Rebels in a closer game than expected.
