Yeah, it's where I'm not convinced (yet) that the high performance review got things to a place that is properly future proofed. Someone like Link should be looking at CEO of the Reds, as opposed to CEO of the QRU. Possibly then a good fit for where Herbert is right now. And that is a role that is completely inappropriate for "the old boys club" who could work very well in QRU.

CEO of QRU should be someone with excellent rapor to the clubs and community rugby, who demands pathways for his boys, and cash from the Reds.

IE NOT someone who is needed before we lock in on an HC. Herbert is there, its the point of the role, give the bloke enough rope.

Or call in Link. ;-)

I like the idea of Link as CEO.

A couple of years out of rugby should have healed a few head wounds.
I don't think many would dispute his knowledge of our game, the politics involved, player acceptance.

He has a hard edge and that is what is probably heeded for the Reds, moving forward.

That's an interesting stat. 3rd least tries conceded yet still questions on the defence.

'They might not have won a game yet but nobody can doubt the Reds’ defence; they’ve conceded just 11 tries so far this year, the 3rd least behind the Stormers (5) and Sharks (8). 8 of those 11 tries have been scored through a maximum of 3 phases, inferring that when the Reds are able to set up their defensive lines properly they are a very tough nut to crack.' - RUPA Rd 6 stat article

ATM we need a DEFENSIVE fullback - one who can tackle when the opposition breaks or goes around our backs.

The real problem is all the backs from 10-15. Some of these blokes have reputations but certainly are not playing to their abilities. Yeah yeah a lot of criticism about Jake not running straighter etc etc but even when the ball goes wide, passes are dent behind players, players are not attacking the line, dropped ball and so on. The skill level is woeful.

How does MOC fix that - fucked if I know but a couple of blokes need to be hooked and guys willing to have a crack in the jersey, given a shot.

That kind of action sends a clear message to the players, ALL PLAYERS. Those dropped will either rise back to the occasion or be doomed to the rugby scrapheap and go and play in Georgia, Italy etc.

It is a privilege to play for the Reds or any Super team. Don't take it for granted.

I think they call it practice. It's something that should be done at training. Set some standards and make the players live up to them or they suffer. Like Dwyer used to say "Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect".

Agree Jets - but what the fuck have they been doing for the past 4 or so months - playing marbles.

I think these guys train 4 or 5 times a week

Suppose if they haven't been doing what you suggest (and that's correct) what is MOC doing ?

I don't think Ballymore has been a happy place for a while. Hard to try and lift standards in that sort on environment. Hopefully they have spent the past two weeks changing that.

A very talented rugby player, good singing IMO.. He has just returned from a Mormon mission where he took a break from the game, but he had massive wraps on him before he left.

History in rugby? What position would he play?
Backrower.. Number 6 or 8

Played Aus schoolboys(Nudgee and Marsden) in 2010-2011 before signing with Broncos 2012-2013 and then his Mormon mission in 2014-2015 and then again back with the Broncos since late last year.

He is a bit of a gamble since he took 18months away from professional sport, but he was looking like a future Origin player before he went on his Mormon mission.

Assume we didn't end up signing Lagi Setu then? And would we still be after Mowen, Tui and Leroy?

Payto and Panda have mentioned that Higgers, Genia and Cooper are all a chance to return to QLD in 2017.. But I don't know how serious the QRU can be on recruiting without a head coach.

In premier grade there's a few Reds running out this weekend, Michael Gunn is making a return from injury also Mack Mason and Duncan Paia'aua will be going head to head in East vs Norths.

Chris Kuridrani and Junior Laloifi are both starting outside centres for this respective teams.

Lagi probably hasn't played enough footy/seems a bit injury prone at the moment. He hasn't played a round game yet for GPS I believe.

Higgers I like and he has a lot to offer.

Genia and Cooper - shit some people live in the past of 2011.

Any objective view of Cooper in the past 4 or 5 seasons has to acknowledge he has not performed well( at the Reds, Toulon, sevens) on a consistent basis. Same to a lesser degree with Genia.

FFS they are not the answer and don't deserve a large contract - maybe $50,000 base plus incentives for wins. Din't take Reds money under false pretense - it can be used better than as retirement funding

I'd be more enthused about a Cooper return than a Genia one probably, the reason being that'd from 2012-15 the Reds tended to struggle consistent without Cooper (particularly when Ben Lucas or Harris wasn't around to step in), less consistently without Genia.

Now the Frisby is growing into the role of starting 9, I wouldn't be breaking the bank for Will, but would be willing to negotiate within reason to reclaim Quade.

Timu is a great pick up, excellent ball runner.. not sure how the transition back into union will go but he has massive potential.
