So Souths have picked up two backs from The Bank??

I think if they picked up two forwards from The Bank that would be a better addition IMO. I quite liked the Souths backs (admittedly they had Moseley and Ngamanu) when Brothers played them, however wasn't fussed about the forwards. Don't think this would phase UNI.

UQ seem to play a lot better or have a higher win ratio when Horan plays.

On the injury front for Brothers, can report that Jack Ireland (Hooker/Loosehead), Soli Latrell (TH) and Manny Meafou (Second Row) are all out this weekend. They may be out for a while from what I gather.

Yup picked up 2 forwards from the Bank I believe - the Koor Brothers i believe?

Little bit better this week but GEEZ it was a hard day at the supporters office for Souths fans.......

Did some quick numbers and I reckon 47 points minimum is the sweet number that scrapes you into 4th spot. 1 & 2 are off and running by a long way but still a few contenders looking at 3 & 4 ... (could be just wishful thinking on my part as well)

9th July will be the game of the round...

A much better result again this week. The guys that went for an upset didn't get there own way; even though they went close with Brothers v Norths. All the away teams won on the weekend. Similar outcome in reverse this weekend??​

Probably one the easiest weeks with the top 4 playing the bottom 4. Only going to get harder from here! The results are in, and:​

Well there were four perfect scores (HTC, Sage, Refabit and NCWK) however the pick of the round was HTC with the best of all time points difference of just negative 17!! Well done HTC whooo hooo.​

Overall HTC maintains his lead, with the rest having to outfox him in the coming rounds. Phatmik and Nick Dobell maintain the cellar dwellers (Now I'm sure there won't be anything left ;() and the newest recruit (New Recruit Brissy) slying in on an easy round. ​

More challenges in the weeks ahead. ​

Well since the new format adds a little spice to the prediction, I've give it a go.

Bond at home vs Norths
Norths may have a good backline but up front I don’t think they can match up to the Bond piggy’s
and if the Bond backline get their act together they could come away with a few pies.
Bond by 15

East vs West
The heading sounds dramatic enough, Easts should be no contest for Wests and they should get crushed up front by a rested Wests forward pack on a hard dry Easts surface.
Wests by 12

Sunnybank at home to Souths
Sunnybank will bank another bonus point win over a team heading south on the ladder at 7.
Souths have lost the momentum they first had at the beginning of the season and will struggle
to make dash for a top 4 finish.
Bank by 20

Brothers home to UQ
Third place decider with both teams on 31 points this should be a cracker! Hard to pick a winner
here. The team with the most momentum and fitness through the game will take it and it may go
down to the wire or end in a draw?
I’ll have to think about this one until later in the week.

Brothers are certainly "clearing the way" for Bond as probably Norths best player getting this week to rest (red card). Norths provided a challenge last week, aided by a large penalty count, however at home Bond should easily do this. ​

Easts at home Vs Wests​

Well this is one of the two closer games, as I see it. Wests have shown that they can be a force to be reckoned with and I think this will continue this week. Easts even though they have the home ground advantage, the harder games of the last two weeks (Brothers and Bond) may that there toll. Easts will just fall at the last hurdle. ​

The Bank at home Vs Souths​

The "who stole whose player's" grudge match. For mine Souths will need to steal more than they got to win this one. The Bank cruising until next week. Easy at home win with a few twists in-between. Maybe some horse "trading" between the clubs afterwards. ​

For mine the round of the match. Brother's probably the most inconsistent in the top 4; they won this match in round 2, however a lot of physiological water has run beneath that bridge since then. UQ have the team, but have shown their own frailties from time to time. Injury worries at Brothers, however going with the heart rather than my head (probably a good thing) and Brothers by a bee's d%#k. ​

Brothers v Norths on the weekend.

Now let me say from the beginning, these comments are hearsay only, as I was not at the match, so I will be cautious.

The game appeared to be a wee bit spiteful with 2 red cards and two yellow cards. One of the red cards (Norths) was for ruffing/throwing a player with attempted punch/s. Apparently the Norths #8 had enough of the Brothers #9 and wanted to finish his game. However, unfortunately it only ended his.

The Brothers #15 red card was for a lifting tackle; some of the people I spoke to said it was probably a yellow and not a red. But that's the argument, one sided.

The Brothers yellow card was for more ruffing/consistent infringements (#4). Don't know about the other Norths yellow, but it is probably safe to assume a similar position as the others.

Sounds to me like Norths have had enough of losing and want to draw a line in the sand. Good for them. Just gotta watch how they achieve this.

The first half was littered with penalties for Norths, mostly infringements at the break-down. Now I don't want to get into a blame the ref. situation and I don't think what I'm going to say is. The referee was the same lass from the Brothers v Bond game earlier in the season. I do remember wondering at the Bond game why the attacking team was penalised a lot at the break-down? And Bond was, probably 4-5 times when attacking Brothers line, which saved Brothers bacon (HTC confirm?).

Now the Brothers team has a number who have played at higher levels (4 out of the 8 forwards) and usually they do not have a large count against them for this type of infringement (break-down). So I asked one of the forwards and it seemed to be a timing issue for the ref. She would make a call after the whatever was the infringement had occurred and not before, which would lead to a penalty. I sure hope her mentors can assist her here because I believe she will be a good referee and has a likable disposition.

Anyway she did have her hands full. The penalty count was between 10-15 in the first half, mostly to Norths, which does stifle the game. The Norths try again came from a Brothers error again. GOTTA RESPECT THE BALL GUYS! The winger tried to grubber his opposition number, 40 m out from his own line (wtf! were you thinking, chip or kick long....only grubber 20 m from the line!) bounced into the oppositions hand and TRY!.....too easy.

Brother had a disallowed try early in the second half. They controlled the ball and spent just about the whole half in the Norths half, but unable to score.

The Brothers forwards did well in the scrums, took a head?? Won all their line out and stole 2-3 of Norths. Won 5 or so break-downs. So the forwards and particularly the back-row did function well, so that's a positive. Didn't get much feedback about the backs.

A fairly ugly win, but a win.

UQ by 12 over Brothers (not Impressed with brothers)

Understand that your not impressed with Brothers, depends on the game or games that you have seen. Sometimes they look pedestrian, other times they look unstoppable. Real Jeckle and Hide.

But that all said they are tied 3rd and have enough air between them and the water.

I think Souths are a long way away. Not a betting man but with their remaining draw I see them finishing with, at best maybe at 38 points. The fourth teams are now at 31. That means a lot needs to happen in their favour to move to the semi's.

So if they are a week away, they need every week under their belt to make the semi's.

I never mentioned them making the 4. Just if the injury gods smiled on Souths and they got the 2 big inclusions that they would be able to compete with Sunnybank providing they turn up like they did against Brothers and Bond.

I must say I am impressed with the discipline of the Bond Prem Colts with only 1 yellow card so far in this years comp. Not sure about the other teams but there seems to be a fair few being dealt out each week.

Yes well done to those gentlemen re: Bonds Good discipline.

Most of the yellow cards for Brothers have be high/tip tackles. Most of the ones I've seen were not nasty, but miscalculations or falling players. That said the discipline is not good; 8 yellows and one red. It seems that the second row, the fullbacks and wingers have the majority of the cards. Not happy Jan!
