Fact: I don't know any First XV coach in the GPS who has a single thing to do with the 15Cs and 15Ds to make them stick on with rugby. Not sure how it's the First XV coach's fault that the 15Cs don't feel like continuing on to be the 16

I disagree, TheKing, the full quote is exactly how I interpreted it. It a negative comment that did not need to be said.
I think he has underestimated the quality and depth of his own 1st XV squad as well as that of his 2nds.
I wish BSHS all the best for the season and despite the coach's comment, I think with the talent they have that stretches beyond just the starting 1st XV, they do have the depth and a very real chance of fighting TSS for the premiership in round 9.
On a side note, Cheers for the preview. I enjoyed your write up of each team. Well written and really got me excited for the season ahead.

Would love to know a bit more about the new boys at TSS .If they will not give you the information maybe you could do yourvown views.

All I know about Southport
- Captain Dechlan Day is the latest in a conga line of strong ball-carrying looseheads from Southport. He might even be better than Evander Guttenbeil in the loose. A bit of a weird snub from the Australian Schoolboys.
- The much hyped (mostly by me!) Sam Dobb is playing second XV despite benching for Queensland. I'd back Mike Wallace's judgement of his ability better than the Queensland selectors. Similarly, the talented lock Thomas Van Der Schyff is still playing 16As, who will be one for the future.
- Tipene Mavoa is a terrifying ball-carrier at No.8 with an excellent turn of pace and has showed great awareness in support play in the past. I also thought it strange that he wasn't considered for Australian Schoolboys selection
- Angus Blyth is being chased by the Gold Coast Suns, who are in love with his height and athleticism. Look out for the tall timber in the second row.
- Titans-linked fullback Max Dowd returns to the First XV after a very handy season at the back last year. Expect scything runs on kick returns, linking with Gold Coast Junior Gold Cup team-mate Koen Davey, who was apparently very good on the weekend.
- New recruit Campbell Parata was Western Australia's title winning U15 flyhalf at the Junior Gold Cup, apparently has an incredible goalkicking boot. He's 16 this year, playing inside centre outside John Nucifora.
- Outside centre Tautau Kapea is apparently from Waikato, NZ, and was named best back of the North Island U17s Rugby League comp in 2015. I've seen him named at centre, second row and lock in his old League team sheets, so I'm expecting a pretty physical defensive presence.
- Openside Finn McElroy was last year's hooker, converted to seven in 2016. I'm expecting him to play a tighter role than most loose forwards - he's heavy-set compared to Southport's usual style of openside, who are normally quite tall and rangy. (Luke Papworth and Angus Allen being the case in point)
- Tighthead prop Egan Siggs is one big mofo

But they were down 6-17 last week against TGS ... and then the 2 from TGS got carded and TSS ran in quick tries.... Is that right???
I know that TSS haven't spoken to you but form is form and if so then how good is TGS and also who is looking forward to playing them up the range.....

TGS unlucky discipline cost them the match, they really look the goods - entire team very committed in defense - several big tackles from their 15.
TSS 5 is huge and overly confident but did not add much to defense or attack and is a real niggler so can see why the TGS 2 reacted and got sent off, TSS scrum very strong, 8 likes to run but one up a lot - that said with a solid lineup they are the team to beat and TGS will come very close if TSS get caught off guard again.

BBC v BGS - The BBC boys have been unusually quite on this forum this year to date. Is this the year? Well they should certainly start it with a win. Early days, but it's looking like a long season for BGS.
GT v AGS - The Churchie forward pack just aren't, well Churchie of the last couple of years and if GT get front foot ball I expect their game plan to work a bit better this week, GT by a smidge.
IGS v TSS - The Ippy boys will take it to TSS and give the Southport boys a bit of a fright. But I expect a bit of a rinse and repeat of last week with TSS coming out on top, due the boys from Ippy not being as fit.
TGS v NC - I confess I'm a dyed in the wool one eyed Butcher Boy, but the NC lads aren't floating my boat this year. TGS will be angrier than a rodeo bull with a rope around his balls, they let a golden opportunity slip last week and provided they can keep everyone on the park this week they'll take it by a point or two......but if that red T-ba haze descends NC to steal it TSS style. I can only hope.

Great "almost preview" King!!!
I really your wrong about your prediction with BBC coming 6th and can't see the basis for that based on BBC lineup and coaching staff.
I will be keen to see them against your beloved BGS on Saturday and doubt it will be anything like the toweling they gave them last year, that really was one of the great ALL TIME embarrassments for BGS rugby.
BGS is now recruiting pretty heavily although as usual that will be denied by many parents.

I have to agree with you about BBC. TSS see round 3 against them as a big big match- naming it old boys' day.
Nephew at BBC says one of their Rep players is out for the year?Any one know about that?
Also WTF is The PNG prop Yunopa? doing in the 2nds- is he coming back from injury? I agree with the King. I expected him to play
