Would you also count in Mike Ala'alatoa and maybe Volavola as well? Pretty sure MA played NRC but not sure if VV played Super Rugby beforehand.

Maybe Alan Ala'alatoa as well? Or did he play Super Rugby before NRC? I also think there was another winger down here who might have got one game of Super Rugby off the bench after NRC but can't recall his name.

All of those three played Super Rugby before NRC

Interesting that the 2 worst performing teams have the highest number of NRC players, not sure there is a direct correlation other then the poor performance of incumbent Super Rugby players meaning those from the NRC are been offered the opportunity at Super Rugby level.

Reds: 17
Force: 9
Brumbies: 7
Waratahs: 6
Rebels: 4

yeah it is interesting isn't it? Rebels is obvious as they just basically run their Super Rugby team as their Rising team, so limited place for debutant development.

Reds, split over two teams, is about average and in alignment with the Force (who have had a run of NRC debutants of late) and the Brumbies.

The Waratahs with 6 debutants over 4 teams is the stand out. Really shows the disconnect between the NRC teams and the Super Rugby team.

With decent HCs both the Reds and Force will start to reap the benefits of the NRC in the next few years. That's if they can hold on to any talented players coming through.

The Tahs? If the NSWRU can ever get their heads out of their collective clackers and do something about supporting the three Sydney NRC teams we MIGHT see something positive emerge, eventually.

the talk is that this is happening this NRC. Waratahs / NSWRU to be more involved. What they actually means we will have to wait and see.

Here's something else I think is maybe worth considering, not for 2016, but later.

In Non-Olympic years now, there will be no Overlap between the international Sevens Season and the NRC Season.

Should the ARU be allocating the Sevens players into NRC squads? And to a lesser extent, should Coaches be obligated to play them? I'd like to see it happen.

Possibly, but the Sevens season is quite long with a lot of time spent away from home, NRC GF is 5 weeks before the first round in Dubai, those 5 weeks been the pre-season for the team, wouldn't be ideal for the players.

There's probably more opportunity for them to play club rugby June-Aug with Sep-Oct been there off-season before starting pre-season in Oct.

Agree, if Clarke and Fou have signed Super Rugby contracts, this is a great way to get them back in the XVs game.

Remembering that Killingworth (not going to Rio) and Porch both played NRC last year.

Gibbon (Reds) and Asquith (Rebels) both played NRC last year directly after leaving the sevens squad and ended up playing against each other last weekend.

Hasn't happened yet. Considering a converted try has been wprth 8 points since day one of the NRC. Though, in the NRC a try is still only worth 5 points with the conversion given greater weight with 3. We'll see this year as we are now in line with World Rugby's variations. Though, I still think the ones used the first two seasons are superior,

Should be a big week or so ahead for announcements with squads and / or coaches set to be announced for most teams. Let the momentum build!
