Surely on form Folau is on the bench, wherever you want to play him.
He is too one dimensional for the bench.

Beale, Hunt and Duncan P if not selected to start all possess skills that can replace many backline positions and create opportunities, rather than finish opportunities.

I cant find a spot for Folau in a team if I pick on what they offer, not what occurred a few years ago and on current form

I understand where you are coming from, but I think calling him one- dimensional is a touch harsh. He has spent time at FB and Centre and most of us have considered him at wing.

He could be a good 23.

My take is that Izzy just isn't a top notch No 13. The Tahs need to move him back to 15 asap for both their and Izzy's sakes. Certainly on present form, DHP and Hunt are in front of him this year, but he is the incumbent 15 as far as I remember and he is a proven performer and one of Cheika's favourites. If he can get some good time under his belt with the Tahs at 15 then I think we'll see him there for the Wallabies with DHP on the wing and Hunt on the bench. Not a bad outcome.

EDIT : Off topic and I apologise. Just had to get my thoughts down on the matter under discussion.

Agree, in fact i'l go on record in stating that Folau should be playing wing come the June test series, simply because he isn't the best outside centre and he isn't the inform fullback, but he is a such a talent that you can't leave him out of the team. DHP is the best fullback in Australia on form, and Hunt not far behind.
Yep.

Folau has always been a winger, IMO.

Nothing wrong with that.

Really? I can't think of any other fullback that defuses bombs as well as Folau. Oppositions change their game plans just to take him out of the match (that's what's happening with his "form" drop imho). If you manage to have the opposition changing their game just to counter one of your own, you are well on the way to winning - they are playing *your* game, not theirs.

I think Hunt has been great and damaging at the back, and if you look through my post history I've been saying he's been top notch at the back the last season as well, it's just that his sweet running lines just haven't been utilised. But he's not shown enough to change opposition game plans yet.

I think he's light years ahead of Folau in terms of reading the match in its entirety though. He's an important tactical component of any team.

Reds will win this one. Fritzenberger for afters as well *yum*

^^^^^^^^^^^ how are you expecting the ground to bear up after the Broncos v Titans last night? I seem to recall the last time the Reds played the day after the Broncos things got a little messy esp inside the 22 at one end.

That was more due to a large patch of turf being replaced rather than the Broncos playing - was bloody embarrassing though

Have an early brunch for the girlfriend's mother's birthday tomorrow so I'm probably going to have to miss my first game of the season because of the abnormal time slot :(

Give your TV's a good spray for me boys.. I'm sure it will be justified.

I may also be unable to watch due to uni commitments (i.e. I have 3 essays due in 2 weeks which I haven't started).

Make that 11,999 people attending the game Reg

To (slightly) paraphrase a certain second rower: "Come next this fucking Sunday Saturday, we roll these c*nts okay"

Easy. I'm doing part time uni (3 subjects this semester plus FT work and 2 children) and if you haven't worked out how to put together an essay in 1.5 days yet that gets a good mark its about time you learnt. Unless you are post-grad then it may be a little tougher and I will give you 2 days.

In summary, get your ass to the game. You are just going to sit home procrastinating, checking the score every 3 minutes and wish you were there anyway. AND BEER, I will buy you one if you get there.

Haha this is me! 3 subjects plus FT work and two kids (3 and 1). The last year I've been known to start assignments the day they are due and still pulling 6's and 7's. Get to the game Torp! ;)

Fuck this assignment, it can wait. 12,000 people at the game Reg! I've got better things to do than piss and moan about an assignment due in 2 weeks - it's pissing and moaning about why the fuck when the halfback has been tackled no-one goes and picks up the bloody ball! :)

UP THE FUCKEN REDS!!!!!!! WE'RE GONNA ROLL THESE SAFFA fluffybunnyS!!!!!

On the side-line discussion here. I'll take Hunt over Folau at FB. Ditto at 12, 13, AND even 11, 14.

But I'll take DP over Hunt for 12; and Kerevi over Hunt at 13. And to be honest, Hunt at wing would be a waste.

Folau would look good in a "yellow" jersey with 23 on its back. Oh, imvho.

Am at the train station with my 4 year old - the way she's yabbering on this may be a long trip...

Has she been many times before? Have thought of taking my 3.5 year old daughter to Suncorp for a game but I'm not quite sure she's up to it yet. I took her to Ballymore last year for an NRC match and she was so excited until we got there and she realised we were just watching and not playing Rugby. :-/

^^^^Mr 5 has missed one home game since he was born, Miss 7mths is yet to miss one. This family runs on a cruel selfish dictatorship ruled by rugby and selfish parents!

Bribery and corruption has been a necessary part of this arrangement. ;)

Reds looking good against Kings. Karevi might be OK at "c". Cooper picking his moments.
