British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand (2017)

Crockett packed with his shoulders lower than his hips in every one, as he always does.
He got lucky in one and jagged a penalty, in another he placed his forearm on his own leg - instant unarguable penalty for the last 10 years but Poite would not know a tram was up him until the bell rang.

No shit he put his arm on his knee, for like 1 second, after the scrum was COMPLETELY UNSTABLE. Why was the scrum unstable IS? If you can't see who the dominant scrum was in that game, or how bad Sinkler was, I just don't even know what to tell you.

We agree: had to be a penalty, wasnt.
This is how shit these refs are: you're used to it going your way
Don't worry, come RC (a) we won't get near you, and (b) we'll get the shit decisions, and you'll be telling us what poor loser we are.
You guys are just poor drawers.

Pretty sure old George agreed with Poite's initial penalty decision. IIRC it was in the ~5 seconds it took him to walk over and give the final ruling, after conferring with Ayoub, that le Poite decided to commit the greatest act of terrorism on NZ soil some other Frenchmen visited in 1985.
Poite probably had flashbacks to Joubert in RWC2015 Aus v SCOTLAND and decided he wasn't sticking his neck on the line for anyone.
Reminds me of the old joke: "how many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?"

Agree with what was said before, ref flunked it, not to mention not playing advantage on the penalty he didn't give either.

But how many tries did the All Blacks blow in the first half? They were by far the better side, yet only went in 6 point up when it should've been 20. That's what cost them the game as much as the ref bottling the last call.

So who changed his mind? I thought Ayoub but if not then OK but who? Regardless, it's a shit decision &s you've gotta wonder how it can happen.

No one. Poite seemingly just went into a full Chernobyl meltdown in those few seconds between conferring and ruling.

But oh well. We didn't lose the series or the Eden Park record, and, as others have said, the AB's should've been far more clinical so as to remove the very random French refereeing variable.

As for the tour as a whole, the Blues won, the Crusaders lost. The Lions fans were good value, as always. An entertaining tour all round. Good stuff. Hope they continue as is, without the English clubs further encroaching upon them.

EDIT: I guess this result can also silence everyone who complains about the AB's winning everything, as I legitimately have no idea who gets the trophy. Guess it could always donate it to the ARU so they can have something in their cabinet (here fishy, fishy...)

What a game, we needed extra time on that one. Abs better but bils hung in there. I thought the last calll was right. But both teams had their chances

Really? You're litereally citing THAT? From a scrum that was ALREADY fucked. Why did he have to put his arm on his leg? Where was Sinkler to bind on? Busy struggling to take the engagement with the rest of the front rows.

And from this action, that lasted for what, barely half a second you are extrapolating what? That all those scrum collapses were somehow Crockatt's fault. It was Crockatt's fault that the engagements were unstable. It was Crockatt's fault that Sinkler packs at an 80 degree angle. It was Crockatt turning the scrums under pressure.. ok.

Nice of you to feel like you are completey free to argue with me about scrums, then throw it in my face that I am a "poor drawer". What a cop out.

Crockett is a crock: always has been. He is not supposed to pack with his shoulders below his hips. He did it 4 or 5 times. That's 4 or 5 penalties.
Doesn't matter how long he had his arm on his leg and the officials hadn't seen a penalty up to that point so that's a clear penalty.
It's a pity we so rarely get to see you guys in this mode: not quite so philosophical about the human factor.

So.. you know Crockatt has a reputation and are going with it. Do you have any opinion on Sinkler at all?

Again, you seem to be pretty bloody comfortable sharing you own opinions whilst simultaneously throwing out "you guys in this mode". Would you like me to buy you some more cake?

Cake?
Never heard of him - I was not aware this was a widely held view since most of he time our THP gets he blame for collapses on his side. If it is the accepted wisdom why is it wrong?

I feel we're just in wind up territory now. I'm done, Crockatt should have been penalised multiple times. Lions deserved more penalties for their dominant scrum and stringent abiding of the laws, both rugby and physical.

Super rugby is going to be dull after this.

Well done Lions for drawing the series in the All Blacks backyard. The bleating from the Kiwis regatding the ref will be hugely entertaining. Let's see if the kiwis follow the advice they dish out to Aussie supporters when they have gripes against the ref, derserved or not.
Quite amusing to see some of our regular Kiwi posters who are always lecturing others about not blaming the referee. Hilarious.

Winning the 2015 World Cup made NZ rugby fans soft and complacent.

We were poor in this series, and shouldn't bloody lose at home. We lost to Ireland last year and were dire on the EOYT. We were flattered by historically poor Australian and South African teams.

All Black teams should not be limited to three points in 40 minutes! That backline was abysmal.

Hansen has disappeared up his own ass. His hubris will kill him.

Surely you didn't put yourself through it?
There's a place in heaven for those who watched the game - but it bore only passing resemblance to the the game supposedly played there.

yeah - we'd be happy with a draw........against anyone.
