Shiggins as Oztimmay said Rebels CEO Baden Stephenson announced it on radio interview.

Prior to mentioning the Faulkner signing Stephenson said there were more announcements to come from Rebels. So on top of Faulkner there is at least one more Rebels announcement set to be made in next few days. No indication if other announcement/s are playing signing related or sponsorship related.

Swap a Wallaby for a wallaby - I can handle that.

So, gives us some options now. LH; Saaga'a, Ah Nau, TH: Lomax, Weeks. As I understand Tetera to be a TH, feel we're a little thin on the LH. Unless we're looking to covert one of the existing THs - Laurie would be my guess, given Tyrell's height.
I always thought Pat Leafa could covert to a prop. He scrummages well, he's mobile and only needs a few dozen pies to beef up a bit more.

Faulkner is a good signing, gives us some good depth on the tight head side.

We probably need an elite LH more than a TH, but I'm not mad at signing a local boy and potentially giving Saaga some development minutes.

As an aside, as a dynamic athlete around the park I wouldn't mind seeing Lomax play some LH. He could pick up the technique in an off season.

Playing the home angle nicely. Two year deal.

Or Perth for that matter, but best not let the facts get in the way of a good yarn.
100%

I'd imagine that for many modern players and Sides, a player's being home is nothing more than a marketing technique.

We like to use any connection for "home". Apparently transiting through Melbourne airport counts.

"Home" could also be New Zealand or Canberra for him...

Whilst teams do look for any connection to claim a player as their own, lets not pretend this is ridiculous.

He played the majority of his junior rep football in Victoria, moving to Canberra for a scholarship. He moved first and foremost because there was no professional rugby in Victoria in 2006 (and no prospect on the horizon either). I've seen the man shaking hands and chatting about old times with a heap prominent members of the local rugby community at Rebels home games. The connection is obviously there.

So look, it's certainly looking at the situation favourably but it's not a lie.

And plus, lets not pretend the Force's definition of 'local' isn't quite liberal at times.

Nothing to see here, just a player coming back to the place he spent a large portion of his formative years living. There's probably a strong chance his family still lives here. Nothing else to see. Nothing to do with a player jumping ship and the Force imploding and nothing to do with the Rebels looking more secure than they were 24 hrs ago. Maybe if more make the move, we can start speculating but its most likely just a simple explanation.

He's an established professional, I wouldn't be mad at seeing the Fiji side promote new talent.
Generally yes, but it'd be good for them to have some guys with a decent professional background in the squad. Either way it's not a big deal, just a missed opportunity
