But the board is stacked to maintain the status quo. Even if change was wanted, it couldn't get through. The calculus was done on these very pages in the lead up to the EGM.
But, say your state union decides to do the right thing and go "renegade". What might that accomplish?
We have seen the ARU plays a selective game of hardball. At board level, it excluded one of its members for his ties to WA. Did McLean get asked to leave the deliberations? Nobody? Patsy?
So now you've risked your union's (paltry) funding and support for the grassroots, the Wallabies meet and greets/training and publicity events, the Test matches and all of the other high-profile goings on that are the lifeblood to a game that gets little to no love (outside the rusted on fanbase).
The system is rigged.
As it stands, change must come from NSW and Qld. Do their representatives have the balls to do the right thing by the code in Australia?

I'm out. Not a cent of my hard-earned is going to anything connected with the ARU until there is real structural reform. I'm aware that this is a drop in the ocean of their revenue,and the general futility of corporate boycotts, but it's all I can do. I can't even imagine how the Force fans are feeling now.
I'll keep watching the Shute on tv, given their relative independence, but that'll be the only rugby I consume for a very long time.

I suspect Rugby WA has been worn down by the decades of abuse at the hands of the ARU and has been playing nice. You might even argue they have been a bit dim about the realpolitik.
I guess that's what led to them giving into a one-sided centralisation and services arrangement with the ARU last year.
I expect that phase is over and there's nothing but cold, steely hatred coming the ARU's way.

The 2018 season is already a mess.
New CEO plus new member /s or all Board going, legal action by WA and what will be the response after that of he International body. How will a draw occur? This will drag on for 12 to 18 months and still no solution to the grass roots problems as the focus will be elsewhere.
Are there not several Force players n the Wallabies.
What impact on the rep games ahead?
Who would want to be a sponsor associated with this sport?
The AFL, League and Soccer must be opening champagne bottles and cheque books to grab players.

Daily Telegraph on rumours on candidates for ARU head has Phil Kearns and White, CEO of Bronco's.
Would be absolutely ludicrous if Phil Kearns was even considered as we need a CEO with a sports administration background which Phil Kearns has zilch. I would rather give White the gig given outside of Rugby and strong sports administration background with successful NRL side. Plus lets face it NRL been much more successful in growing the game in Oz than rugby so we could badly use lessons learned from that code.
I also think the ex Canterbury League club CEO (forgotten her name) would probably be good candidate for board position as we need thinking from other codes at this point as clear we need new thinking outside of our game applied.

Personally, although I believe she would be good I hope she avoids it like the bloody plague. Whoever takes on the job will have to make some hard decisions, and it will be so easy for everyone (and I include most on this forum) to just start pointing the finger and going she a kiwi so she is trying to hurt us etc (remember one R Deans), or she a woman what does she know. I think it needs to be run by an Aussie, just so the idiots will have less ammunition when more tough decisions are made.

The bulldogs ceo has failed in a much smaller role than the ARU position.
They re signed the coach earlier this year, so they can give him a big chq when they sack him after the last round.

Not sure if we know if the Hasler, Foran and Woods signings were her call or the Chairmans. Part of the reason she left was because of the chairman.

He's probably too old to consider it now but I reckon Ross Oakley would be a good choice - although, his recent experience dealing with the ARU did leave him pretty pissed off with rugby.

The fact that not one single Super side in Australia is sustainable seems to be lost on most posters, and the culling of the Force whilst emotive really should be the opportunity we need to achieve real reform, that could (and I'd argue should) see us leave Super Rugby altogether at the end of this deal with a completely new plan that doesn't focus completely on the top end of town.
The two Shute Shield finals games this weekend served up better rugby than anything that our Super sides have served up this year and most of last.

you've got to be joking - he was CEO of Rebels in 2011 when he handed the job to Steve Boland and CEO VRU until Aug 2013 when he handed the job to Peter Leahy. In 2013 he was in semi-retirement mode. Surely guys, we are not going to trawl through yesteryears blokes - we need someone with vision and strategies to grow and strengthen, not some old bloke who did a good job once. (Sorry Ross if you are reading this, no offence mate, you did a good job then, but this requires someone else IMO)
