Not familiar with Lalakai Foketi I don't think.

What's his background?

Played Shute Shield for Manly I think. Played Aus under 20s in 2013 and 2014 then had a contract with the Rebels for a while but was mostly injured. Played a couple of games only. He then went to France for a season then came back. Played Mitre 10 Cup in NZ this season. I saw him play one game this year and he was alright. I wouldn't pick him as a starting Super Rugby player next season though.

I think they've grabbed three very good young props.

You'd be uncertain that Kepu would play on after the 2019 RWC and Paddy Ryan is very experienced now.

Realistically Kepu and Robertson will be the starters next year, Ryan the reserve LHP and the others battling for the other bench spot.

I think Vui, Johnson-Holmes and Walker all have the potential to be really good in a couple of years time when we really need them to be starting.

So Harry Johnson-Holmes and Lachlan Swinton are EPS and everyone else is full contract?
I believe Supplimentary squad. Unless the others are starters they would be EPS for next year. I doubt many named in that article are full contract yet

Swintons the real deal IMO. Not sure about the other ex-u20 recruits.

I saw Lalaki play at school, Manly and u20 level - he was electric.

Then he signed for the Rebels before playing in France and falling off the radar entirely.

Will be interesting to see how he goes. Maybe his confidence will return and so will his form?

Good point over in the Brumbies thread - in the frenzy to sign Coleman, Phillips and RHP from the Force we all forgot one pretty impressive player:

Ritchie Arnold!

He had a great NRC and would be a fantastic pick up for the Tahs. Any news on where he's heading?

As a side comment I must say I am pretty disappointed with the fan engagement so far by the Tahs, I keep getting updates and social media post from pretty much every other team except from the Tahs!

Brumbies, Reds and specially the Rebels are doing great work with fan engagement - pre season

Social media engagement has never been a Tahs strongpoint, which is surprising since it offers an effective marketing platform for organisations on a limited budget

It just amazes me that it is 2017 and Waratahs still have not learned a thing about Social Media.

I've had at least one email a week from the Tahs and there's 7 facebook posts in the last week with the same content posted on twitter.

Hi Braveheart I have been a Waratahs fan for years (And a member), yes I get the same stuff yet I feel that compared to the other teams it is poor.

There's no doubt they have been terrible historically. I think there has been marked improvement in the last year or two. The volume is definitely lower than some of the other teams (I just went through the Brumbies recent posts and they were higher mostly due to their 'throwback' posts of old teamsheets). It's definitely something the Waratahs need to continue to improve on but I don't think just increasing the number of posts necessarily increase engagement. I follow all the teams' socmed accounts and I don't think it's purely the number of posts that makes one better than the other (that said, the Tahs are probably still at the rear of the field).

You are right, it just feels like there is more "excitement" around the other teams rather than the Tahs. I want to see back scenes stuff, meet the new players, anything! Gotahs!

I think a lot of that is the lack of player signings more than spreading the news about them. Gibson and the coaching team aren't giving the socmed person anywhere near the content the Rebels have to play with and that has been really disappointing! Whilst there's still hope we'll sign Curtis Rona, there's been a bunch of Force players who would have really filled key gaps in the squad and they've pretty much all ended up with the Rebels.

The best signing by the Rebels was Wessles. Very smart. The Force players obviously have a good relationship with him. Also the Tahs are in the nose with them because they got no support to stay in Super Rugby and ppenly supported 4 teams , whereas the Rebels were fellow victims.

The Rebels already have some photos of pre season training and I just saw a post about new signing Tayler Adams (Player profile). I have also seen zero engagement in terms of memberships (I could be wrong though). IMO there should be way more activity already, maybe they are waiting for the EOYT to finish.

My wife works for a very well know magazine and a couple of years ago she posted a something on their site about Valentines Day, the blog went something along the lines of "My Valentine's Day at the Rugby" (I took her to dinner and the a pre-season Tahs Game), it was kind of quirky and basically saying she was about to loose her husband to Rugby Season. She tagged the Tahs, the post did not get ONE mention/reaction from the Tahs. At the time I also believe my wife was in contact with the Marketing person from the Waratahs about a potential shoot.

Yep well covered, and accurate. There would be players from last years Shute I'd chose first - would like to see him come back and play grade to see how he has progressed.
