I can see both sides of this argument; do you set the punishment by the offence, or by the result of the offence, or by the force (you know..... the vibe)? Personally, I lean towards the first, even if it doesn't look as fair. The two other options would open a can of worms with the penalties...

We've only had three games this season, all away from home against three tough teams. I'm not at all surprised that Wessels hasn't picked Gordon in any of those games. Wessels definitely seems to prefer to bring the young guys through slowly..... Hosea, Fa'amusili, Eloff, even Uelese as a few...

I like that idea but not sure if it's practical. I don't think any of our teams have the depth in their squads to be competitive against the Kiwis and there's the cost..... pretty expensive exercise to take two squads of players, coaches and support staff to NZ every second week.

Cooper was never in position to make that tackle but, TBF, he did well to get himself back into the play in the same phase :p

Even if not a card, a penalty was warranted 100%. A Rebels lineout around half way would have been so much better for my blood pressure than a Force 5m scrum.

A player development pathway isn't the only thing lost without the NRC. Upcoming coaches and referees are also missing out on that mid-tier level experience. Short term I think the problem could be fixed by playing "A" games alongside the Super Au games..... as has been done in the past. Play...

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this game goes the way of most Rebels v Force games. Rebels by < 7 points.

Not really the point though, is it? I actually don't mind the orange card idea for when a tackle, cleanout, taking a player in the air, etc goes pear shaped. Red cards should still apply for genuine foul play..... punching, gouging, spear tackles, etc. I don't think Ready should have been able...
