Today's predictions Riverview vs. Newington Newington look to close out an outright premiership, with View relishing the chance to claim that they beat the premiers and restore some pride. I always say beware of the wounded bull, but Riverview's injuries are too great I feel. They needed their...

The only player in recent years to of made the 1sts in year 10 was Jock Merriman. It's not necessarily that Shore didn't appreciate the ability of younger boys in past years, it's more the fact that Shore has been blessed with a remarkable group of 16s players this year. On top of the three...

They were outclassed against Scots but i'm sure everyone at the game yesterday would agree that they easily could have won. Neither team deserved to lose but they were inches away from a victory. And don't forget that when they beat Kings, Kings were equal favourites with Newington. Us Shore...

Shore leading 14-10 at half time.

I was impressed with Grammar against Shore, but the players I were impresed with got injured innthat match. We made the observation that their 2nds lost to Shore 4ths by 30 points. The 4ths are a good side this year, but obviously would get walked over by the 1sts. we knew then that if there...

Valid argument, definately the team that has impressed me the most this year. One of the few teams that has the full package. You can't underestimate the home advantage for this match as well. Another big positive for Newington is that they have the bye this week, and get to play Shore after...

I agree, more to come on this topic later, as firstly Shore must worry about the very tough game against Scots. But it is true that in the trials Newington's physical backline ran through Shore's, and they didn't even have Moeroa that day due to injury. All I can say that is the backlines defene...

What's the news on Scots as well. Newington are the most physical side in the competition. Surely they dealt some damage to the Scots boys? Guessing that if any of their big 3 were injured though i'd of heard about it by now. Going to be a great atmosphere at this week's game.

Completely agree...a big reason for Shore's form is that they have been very lucky with injuries. The only player too miss the season is Fletcher, who played some firsts last year. Richard got injured during the Riverview game with either a broken or dislocated shoulder but besides that the team...

Shore and Scots need him as well so that View can beat Newington in the last round!

What View's injury news? I saw Rorke and Redden walk off and I noticed that Robertson and C.Freeman were also not playing. Any chance of these players playing against Kings or Newington? Or are they going to end their seasons?

I think Shore's backs really clicked on the weekend, admitedly for the first time this season. A big reason was that Nic Clancy finally returned from injury at fullback, and has a great combination with his twin Jack after playing together for so many years. the other bonus is also that Davies...

I agree, I think Newington are definately favourites. I'm confident Shore could beat Scots next weekend in their last home match, they did in the trials. Newington away could be the downfall of the season, and Joeys beat Shore in the trials so that's going to be an even tougher match I think...

History would suggest that at least one team out of Newington, Shore and Scots will finish the season with just one loss or undefeated. Next week's game between Shore and Scots will determine whether Scots is pushed out of contention or whether both remain hunting for a joint premiership.
