Alternatively if either Pat or Shota get injured I assume we could re-contract Steve and fly him back down.

To put it bluntly, if we can retain 3 of Smith, Weeks, Paulie and Max, we'll be alright in the front row stocks. Obviously all 4 would be nice, but perhaps not possible.

Don't forget Cruze Ah-Nau has re-signed for another year.

I've been really impressed with him in the few games he has had this year. Great work rate and very good value either off the bench or as injury cover for Smith.

It's very interesting they've let him go considering he was contract due to Sexton's injury. They originally had 4 Hookers in the squad including Moli as the EPS squad member. They only have 2 fit hookers for the remainder of the season, meaning nothing has changed since they originally contract Steve. Odd.

Lol. I read somewhere (don't remember where) that Cruze has been working on his line out throws. Also Tom is set to be fit for NRC could he be fit for Reds and South African games if needed.

He has played hooker for Footscray plenty of times. It's not super rugby, but it's a start.

Perhaps Tom is closer to full fitness that we have been led to believe? Would find it hard to believe he would be, but you never know...

Leafa and Shota can both play 80 minutes.

Ah-Nau has trained and played at hooker at lower levels, and so would be capable for the 10-15 minutes required for blood, concussion, or cramping.

For the Brumbies and Bulls games, injuries, excluding long term ones don't matter. You could probably extend this to the whole South African tour, while you need 8 front rowers, signing a player just for that is useless.

So... the only scenario I could envisage in that Fualau would have been required is if one of the Front Rowers sustains a long term injury between now and the South African tour.

The people who'd be most disappointed about Folau would be Melb Uni.

Between this, their injuries, and Sa'aga being called into the Samoan U20s, they're having no luck.

I'd be surprised if they rally in the 2nd half of 2014 and make finals after all this bad luck.

So Pyle is off to Stade Francais, what a waste of talent, not even going to be playing in Rugby Championship Cup (New Heineken Cup, Stupid name for it)

Understand your concerns and agree 10th is bare minimum as a benchmark this year however I still think it's too early to be crying into our pints. Give it until about 10pm tomorrow at least ;)

Genuine contenders for the spoon. I don't see us beating the Reds twice. Chance against the Bulls? No. Lions? Something to play for, loser gets the Spoon

Laurie Weeks has been called up as an additional training squad member for the Wallabies ahead of Toby Smith.

Ben Alexander is out injured and has been replaced in the Wallabies squad by Paddy Ryan, which is why Weeks is in additional training squad.

Nice work Lorenzo! Great reward for him on the back of a solid season. He would have been picked over Toby as they want a specialist THP.

Fair point oztimmay.

After the Lions upset win in South Africa overnight the Rebels have dropped to 14th.

Hopefully we can regroup over the international break and come out and beat Reds at AAMI and get our first overseas win v Lions.
