Ah - the team sheet said Toeta was 15 and Squirrel said the 15 was injured, so I put in "Toeta". So it was the 12 that was injured.

How did Toeta play in the games you saw UJ?

We Sydney-siders are talking ourselves up but Thompson rates Toeta; so he could be 10/15 cover at least.

So as the Squirrel said - they could take just one specialist fullback to Italy to save a spot (Placid) and have AK (Andrew Kellaway) as his backup - but Jones and Toeta could be thirds, with Toeta the second flyhalf and somebody like Deegan as starter for the main games.

Of course Deegs can play fullback too.

That's only one scenario - back to the game.
.
I think they just wrote the team lists today in the positions they would start. Toeta had a good game V Tonga at fullback (most of the game) started V QLD at fly half and was not too bad and has some game time on the wing V NSW from memory. He has been the Baa baas best back for mine. Not without a few errors and he kicks goals a bit too.
Fulivai played fullback most of the comp bought in late when Placid played for the Rebels and wore 15. He was replaced by Kotz at fullback after being injured but he too came off with 20 to go. Toeta may have gone to fullback then.

I agree entirely, however, could one make some sort of an argument considering the Barbarians results at this tournament.

This is not intended to start a fight, and i am not questioning the integrity of the selectors or coaches, just making note. There were plenty of people on here who were "taken back" by the Barbarians selection. Perhaps some selected on reputation rather than performance?
I believe that Qld got home against the Barbarians with a try in the last minute to break a 29 all scoreline. Barbarians beat Fiji as did QLD and both were towelled up by NSW. So my argument, remembering that QLD have been together since last year, Is NSW first, daylight second and a photo for third. I will wait for the developed print.

And now all is well and the universe is in equilibrium tonight!

Sure wish I could say the same for the 'brain cells' of NSWRU U20's players and management who might indulge in a drink or 10 this evening!

Not sure the equilibrium extends north of the border. The Reds 20's program needs a rethink and an overhaul.

Congratulations to QLD's Adam Korizyk who was named player of the tournament at the National U20s Championships!

Wow Adam Korczyk Player of the Tournament.

He'd have to be in the final team. I poo-pood him before saying Hanigan was better. Well done that young man.

Aaaaaargh RR beat me by a minute, but I spelled his name correctly.

Understandable, LG. Hardly a mention in any of the reports. But, I'm pretty sure Reds' posters were notable by their absence during the competition.

Interesting that he played on the openside today with Gunn AWOL with the Reds. Played lock v the Baas.

At school he was a notter lock and probably still is.

He's a lock who can play 6. Not a bruiser.

We will have to put him in our calculations. It was a pity there were not more Qld parents attending who are forum members.

And I think the info will be light on the Oz Schools games up there this year, though maybe it will change because there's been a bit of water under the bridge since last time.

I'm not putting tickets on myself (well actually I am) but I picked Mr Korczyk as my 'first choice'!

Look at the size of those feet! He could have been a champion swimmer as well I bet!

Lee Grant is 'Perfect Possum' (squirrels are to American for my liking) able to provide any info with respect to when we can hear a team announcement?

I have seen the presser released by the ARU Media Unit, but last time I looked there was nothing on the ARU Web page.

I must give credit to the ARU Media Unit. They have been very quick at getting reports up this year, both for this tournament and the recent Rugby 7's tournaments in Narrabeen.

Celebrate success and acknowledge progress.

According to Brumby Jack who spoke to the ARU people:

LG,

Speaking with the ARU staff, the squad for Italy should be announced either Friday or early next week and then they will play in the FORU comp on the Gold Coast in May.

When I told him what the story was of the procedure last year he said - that's how he understood what was said to him.

It depends who he spoke to - probably the ARU media guys who don't know the ins and outs.

Anyway - there will be something on Friday or early next week.

Congratulations to NSW team for winning the championship. Well deserved. The final was a battle of forwards ( I think Qld dominated for majority of the game ) and show of an excellent running rugby of NSW team. I guess that QLD supporters will ask the one and only question, what if their final squad was not decimated by injuries and Reds / 7s duties. The list is long (Mafi, Potgieter, Gunn, Wilkin, Tuttle, Perese, Tanuvasa, Paua'ia , Magnay and few others). We will never know. Now however is the time for big decision. I think that QLD will do well and have ~10 players in the wide squad.
