The Western Force Under 20s side has been named for their final match of the Super 20s Championship against the NSW Gen Blue 20s at McGillivray Oval on Saturday, 26 March.

The Force Under 20s will be keen to put in a good performance in their final outing of the season with the Western Australian side on the hunt for their first win of the season.

In the front row, Tom Sheminant of Nedlands starts at loosehead linking up with Palmyra hooker Taine Oakley while UWA’s Shambeckler Vui will start at tighthead. Rockingham’s Fredrick Van Der Heyden and Nedlands’ Sam Offer will partner in the second row for the third time this season.

In the backrow Palmyra’s Evan Stafford runs on at blindside while Rockingham product Sosifa Likio has been named at blindside, vice-captain Tevin Ferris of Nedlands rounds out the forward pack at No.8.

In the backline Angus Taylor will again captain the side at scrumhalf and links up with fellow Wests Scarborough teammate Eli Greaves who switches from fullback to start at flyhalf for the first time.

Jerseys 11 through to 14 are dominated by Palmyra products with Onehunga Havili and Trey Moloney again starting on the wings while Leighton Short and Michael Fotu have been named at inside and outside centre respectively. Clay Uyen comes back into the side for the first time since round one at fullback.

Coming off the bench, Toro Ready, Luke Fouwler and Michael Ninkov get their first opportunity of the season and will look to make it count when they are injected into the game against a quality NSW outfit.

Western Force under 20’s coach Dwayne Nestor said the side is determined to finish the season on a positive note.

“We are excited for the clash,” he said. “We have picked a couple of new faces in the squad to see what they can do, so we’ll see what happens on Saturday.”

“We are disappointed with our Rebels and Brumbies matches because we thought we were capable of winning those games but we are keen to really dig in this week and hopefully come away with a result.”

The Western Force Under 20’s match will kick-off at 4:30PM AWST following the Western Australia U/15s Junior Gold Cup final against ACT which starts at 3:00PM AWST, so get down to McGillivray Oval on Saturday, 26 march to see some of the state’s brightest young talents in action.

^^^^ NSW should have been pissed about their loss to QLD in their game against Ponies, yet they leaked points in the last 1/4 of that game, and they repeated mistakes from ACT game in the Vic game.

Give the ACT and Vic coaches and players some credit for studying the streams from the NSW games and preparing their team to nullify NSW strengths and exploit their weaknesses.

No reason why the WA Coaching team can't do the same and avoid a smoking.

Not all that happy about a NSW team being beaten by a Vic team, but it was always going to happen sometime that WA and Vic were going to beat a NSW or QLD rep team. The Southern Barbarians did particularly well last year in the National U20s. The standard of play from Vic and WA Schoolboys has been steadily improving over the years.

It is a good sign for Australian Rugby, and reflects the hard work being done by ARU and State RU's to grow the game in non-traditional areas.

The Western Force U20s will be chasing their first win of the Super U20s Championship with the fifth and final round to kick off this weekend.

Hosting the NSW Gen Blue U20s side in Perth, the young Force outfit are hoping to knock off the team from Sydney following on from their loss last week to the Melbourne Rebels.

The NSW team were stunned by the pace of the Rebels outside backs who countered quickly to score two intercept tries to run away with the match 39-26.

For Western Force Head Coach Dwayne Nestor, his side is aiming to finish the competition with a wet sail.

“We are excited for the clash. We have picked a couple of new faces in the squad to see what they can do, so we’ll see what happens on Saturday.

“I dare say they’ll come with vengeance and we expect them to turn up very motivated to win.”

With the Western Force side to play its last match for the season, Nestor reflected on the performance of the Perth based team.

“We set our sights on winning two games and being competitive in the Super U20s competition. It can go either way if you’re off a little bit you are bound to lose a game.

“We are disappointed with our Rebels and Brumbies matches because we thought we were capable of winning those games.

“The Reds match got away from us a bit and we probably weren’t as competitive as what we would have liked to have been.”

There is hope for the future for the Western Force U20s with most of the team this year eligible for next season’s competition as Nestor explained.

“I’ve been quite excited for the coming years. With the amount of young guys we have looking forward for us we have next year and the year after that are looking quite positive for us.

“It’s been brilliant for those young guys to get that experience this year and they’ll be so much better for it for next year.

“We’ll pick a targeted group to keep working on the program through the year so that they are ready to go for next season."

The Western Force U20s play NSW Gen Blue U20s at University of Western Australia Sports Ground on Saturday 26 March at 4.30pm AWST.

NSW Gen Blue U20s Head Coach, Chris Malone has named his starting side for the team’s final Super U20s Championship clash against the Western Force U20s this Saturday in Perth.

Andrew Vatuvei steps in to the starting line-up this week as lock, with Max Girdler slotting in as flanker.

Sepesi Loga Tarogi has also been handed the opportunity to start on the left wing against the Force U20s.

In the forwards, Vunipola Fifita and Declan Moore return to the run-on side, with Harry Johnson-Holmes completing the front row at tighthead.

Malone said the team were keen to make a greater account of themselves in the last round of the Championship.

“We were guilt of turning over too much possession which cost us against Melbourne. We’ve worked hard this week on ensuring that we put that right,” Malone said.

“It’s potentially the last opportunity for the team to show what they’re all about and represent NSW how we know they want to.

“They (the Western Force U20s) are fairly physical. We want to go out and make sure that we play in a way that shows all the hard work we’ve done across the last six months.

“There’s been guys who’ve stuck their hand up, some who have demanded to be included and a couple of others who we want to have a better look at within our squad.

“We want to continue to monitor these guys going forward, a lot of them are just out of school so getting a full season under their belt at club level will be really important in terms of their development.

“We’ll continue to touch base with them to ensure they’re heading in the right direction, not just for the guys who are coming back, but also those finishing the program to ensure they have opportunities with the Waratahs in the future.”

The NSW Gen Blue U20s to take on the Western Force U20s in the final round of the Super U20s Championship is below. The match takes place tomorrow, Saturday 26th March in Perth with kick-off at 4:30pm local time.

Based on the current table, if Brumbies win, and The Rebels* don't score 4 tries, nsw will need to win with a bonus point to draw ahead on points. If NSW win but don't score a bonus point, and if the Rebels* don't score a bonus point, then it's even comp points and up to fors and againsts differential.

If the Rebels* loose with 2 bonus points (4 tries and behind by 7 or less points) and NSW win with only 1 bonus point, the Rebels* are ahead by one competition point and go through to the final.
