I'll second that question. It doesn't look like Telstra is ever going to give me Froyo.

Incidentally, I know Gingerbread is has been released on the Nexus S.... does anyone know when the wider release will be?

The source code has been released to AOSP and there are some roms available for some phones, but they are all a little buggy. Once the updates from google (nexus 1) and some manufacturers drops, they should be quickly resolved.
