Australian Rugby / RA

Agreed, however maybe not that simple, but the one thing you can't do is involve all these people and the give them a list of terms & conditions.

Nor can it be a free-for-all. We do not own rugby as a sport. If we want to retain a seat at the top table, and take part in the hugely lucrative international market offerings, we have to have terms and conditions. Or rather, we have to ensure that we comply with the game's terms and conditions. Unless a billionaire decides to buy us out. Which is not very likely.

An amusing set of headlines "Castle under siege" at the moment.
Not original but these days a laugh is in order.
I hope the reason for the headlines (RA is insolvent) is wrong.

RA is f*cked
$9.4 million operating deficit for the World Cup year of 2019.
RA’s operating costs increased by $6.6 million in 2019, with the Folau legal case tipping the scales alongside extra community grants and player payments. (The Australian)

Or look to patch things up with Forrest and merge with GRR. Open up the eligibilty rules for Wallabies selection to having to compete in GRR. Fairly simple.

Twiggy is probably more worried about his 10% drop in net worth and the fact one of his main customers Wuhan Iron and Steel have some other things on their plate right now.

$40k/w not even close. Try a third which she is now taking half of.
Speaking on a teleconference to media on Monday afternoon, Castle, who is paid $800,000 a year, confirmed her annual salary would be halved, while revealing other RA executives had been asked to take a 30 per cent paycut.
SMH March 30th.
So just under $8,000 p.w. now.

Agreed but to attract private investment, something that will be vital if the game is to survive & start moving forward, then the code has to meet private investors somewhere in the middle. It was Forrest that said dealing with the RA was like walking through wet cement.

Any knowledgable finance people out there?
Does the following RA statement mean it is not a "going concern" i.e. insolvent?

“One of the implications for Rugby Australia as a result of the pandemic was that it was not able to present a full set of audited financial accounts at the meeting, due to the uncertainty surrounding the business into 2020 and beyond..."

Basically a going concern means that it won't go bankrupt in the next 12mths. At this stage the directors can not guarantee this.

Surely Qantas will discontinue financial sponsorship of RA in the face of 20,000 jobs lost - it would be a bit rich to stand down so many people but still indulge in the sponsors box

I can’t see QANTAS sponsoring anything in the short term. What RA will need is a financier as it’s sponsor. I could envisage a rugby mad wealthy fund manager like David Paradice or Hamish Douglas getting involved. Douglas has already shown an interest to sponsor sport with the cricket but timed it badly due to the sandpaper scandal. Paradice has too, via the cycling and has been a 3rd party sponsor of players like Pocock. He’s also best mates of Poidevin.
