Just out of curiosity why did the Wales red get the main gig for the jersey colour? Did they play paper, scissors, rock or something?

You can throw Sexton, Williams and AWJ in the bin though. I also want Daly and Henshaw as my centers too.

Long and the short:

Red, White and Blue hoops on very early tours.

Red and White for the tour that was just Anglo-Welsh

Dark Blue for the remainder of the tours up to the 2nd World War

Post War (In the single tour to NZ between the wars, The All Blacks wore white in the respect of Home team wears clash jersey tradition of the time), they changed to Red as to not clash with any of the SH Unions in test matches

Very interesting. Always wondered about that. The poor old Irish got nothing until 1950 and then it was just the top of the socks!!!

Yeah but AWJ is almost a lock for the first test. Such is Fatland's man love for the guy. he really has to play terribly else he will cruise into the test team.

now you want Daly in the centers where he has not played much at international level? Not happening. Same goes for Davies as AWJ. He has to play himself out of the test 13 slot. I recon we will see Teo/Davies. Teo is Jamie Roberts Mark 2. Fatland has a boner forr a hard running 12.

Nine All Blacks. Six of them starting in their beefy pack. They're not taking any prisoners. Good stuff.

EDIT: In saying that Havili is back in the midfield. IIRC he's had some absolute shockers there over the last few seasons before he was moved to fullback.

Havili was good at 2nd 5 last year when he paired with Crotty at centre. He's a natural 2nd 5 in my view and it's been a feature of him playing off Mo'unga's shoulder this season.

He did fade quite badly in the last few games last season and in the finals run. But the kid is high on confidence right now with his best period of footy.

Dagg at fullback is a good move. Allows him to come into the line as a second playmaker, which he has been very effective at over his career.

Conditions should be perfect: cool (6 or 7C) & clear with very little wind.

Lions have continued with their rather odd "winning hearts & minds" (their words) thing, visiting the memorial to those killed in the 2011 earthquake. As one (British) critic has said, it's all well & good hitting the schools, children's hospitals & retirement villages but while the kids & oldies will always remember the day the Lions paid them a visit, they're probably not gunna be cheering them on come game day. Better to win games & leave the hearts & minds to the inevitable Royal blow-ins, rumour has Prince Ranga is due shortly.
