I must say every player that Jake White has spoken of interest about in the media or who's name was released to the media as a brumbies possible has signed with the Brumbies. Going on this I'd expect Danie Rossouw to be a part of the Brumbies for 2012. Who would want to play in Japan with their current issues. Fast Eddie Jones will release him for 2012 to save his beloved Brumbies and help his mate out Jake White.

Well, this is a surprise:

Power surge set to strike Brumbies

CHRIS DUTTON
30 Jul, 2011 12:00 AM

The ACT Brumbies' worldwide search for a lock has led them to a 25-year-old from Sydney as coach Jake White prepares to finalise his 2012 roster.
After scouring South Africa and New Zealand for an accomplished second rower, it is understood Leon Power is poised to take the final spot in the Brumbies' forward pack.

Power who was born in Sydney but plays rugby in New Zealand has emerged as the man to join Ben Hand and Sam Carter as lineout specialists.

Recruiting the 200cm, 117kg lock means the Brumbies have not used their marquee foreign player contract.

The Canberra Times understands that could be used on South African Danie Rossouw once he finishes his commitments with Japanese club Suntory in March.

White was keen to recruit Rossouw, but the 33-year-old would not be available until the end of the Japanese campaign and would miss the entire pre-season.

It remains unclear whether Rossouw will opt for another Super Rugby stint when the Japanese season finishes.

Former World Cup-winning coach White has been searching for an experienced lock since he was given the task of rebuilding the Brumbies.

It is believed the Brumbies sounded out several experienced second rowers about moving to the capital, including Rossouw, retiring Springbok Victor Matfield and fringe All Black Jason Eaton.

However, White wanted to finalise his 30-man squad as soon as possible and Power's impressive ITM Cup form for Bay of Plenty got the Brumbies' attention.

Power could sign a contract with the Brumbies as early as next week.

Australian Sevens representatives Tevita Kuridrani and Zack Holmes are also in the Brumbies' sights with two back-line contracts still available.

White had his first chance to work with his new playing group at a four-day camp in Sydney this week.

The bulk of the squad was at the camp and 10 players had a chance to impress White and win a roster spot.

Kuridrani and Holmes stood out.

Fijian Kuridrani, 20, is a powerful outside centre who has spent the past two seasons playing for University in Queensland's premier rugby competition.

His brilliant campaign with the Australian Sevens team earned him selection in the Australian under-20s side for the junior World Cup in Italy.

The 196cm, 100kg back will add punch to the Brumbies' midfield.

Holmes burst on to the international stage with the Sevens team last year, and can play flyhalf, fullback and on the wing.

Maybe they should go after Cam Jowitt? No place in the Tahs for him with Douglas, Mumm, Vickerman, Timani

If the article is anything to go by, it sounds like this Power is a definite signing with the possibility of a seasoned international lock in the way of Danie to come later.

So I'd assume Jowitt won't be getting a look in.

there was a comment today by the ABC Shute Shield commentators that Zack Holmes has signed with the brumbies after being involved at their Narrabeen camp this week. He has signed as a 10.

Good player for North Sydney, Zack. Saw him play for Combined State Schools (out of WA) and he looked too small to be a pro player, though I remember thinking the same about JOC (James O'Connor).

He was a flyhalf in those days and now he's playing on the wing but you can still see his ball playing skills. Good 7s player.

I'm going to predict a breakout year for Matt To'omua in 2012. With no Gits he should make the 10 jersey his own and we will all get to see the very impressive skill set that was on display when he was a teenager. I think the Brumbies will go ok next year.

must say i was a little bit dubios when a 'promotional video' starts off with a clip of a tight forward finishing a long range try..
They then went on to show numerous lineouts/kickoff takes etc.. he seems like a sturdy player from that video, just have to wait and see how he turns out.

he looks solid in the lineout and with a good judge of the ball in the air from the kick off. Plus his video editing skills look pretty decent having put together his highlights video.

The video is former last year. I hear he is better in 2011... looks like a sound secondrower with all the skills...

Zach Holmes looks like a great little prospect. Really straightens the attack and very strong in contact. I didn't see any of him at 10 in the video, but I assume he is also a good distributor.

I also just read that he is a WA boy.. Why did the Force brush him I wonder?

He was also a national 400m champion, which is an incredibly difficult race and means he has rare athletic ability. In many ways an accomplished 400m runner is better suited to rugby than a 100m or 200m specialist.

In recent weeks Holmes has been playing 10 with the shoremen in the shute shield... and is doing well, he is also a very good goal kicker and one of the heightist point comp scorers. Could be one the force let get away...

I expect him to be one of the wingers or the 15 by the end of the season
