Ewen McKenzie tried something similar when he played Leroy Houston, Ed Quirk and James Horwill at 8, 7 and 6 in the first game last year. They repeated it the following week except with Higginbotham in for Houston. Both Reds sides were completely overwhelmed at the breakdown and was a reminder that you can't afford not to play a specialist 7 in this competition, especially not when you are up against some of the world's best i.e. Pocock. Robbie Deans made the same stupid mistake when he took only Pocock to the World Cup and we got belted by Ireland in the pool stage. Pocock went on to reign supreme over the breakdown after Brussouw went off injured and the Boks had no specialist 7 to replace him in the QF. This should play right into the Force's hands.

Force will run the Brumbies off their feet if they go for that goofy Vaea at 7 idea. Balance their pack right and the Brumbies should take the points here. The Force have a fantastic pack that can trouble any team in the comp but I just can't see them having the backs to take advantage of that. Brumbies by 10.

Michael Hooper was an absolute pain in the ass when we played the Brumbies in Canberra last season. White should watch the video. Hooper was helped by the fact Pocock and Hodgson were out injured but still.

Are the Brumbies seriously not going to play a specialist openside? Against Pocock and Hodgson? Is Jake crazy? It's like playing a prop at hooker or a hooker at tighthead. You just don't do it.

Personally, I am most looking forward to seeing what kind of form Napolioni Nalaga brings to the table. Most people seem to be expecting big things from him but you need to weigh his Top 14 form up against the fact that (1) his contract with Clermont was terminated because his personal issues were interfering with his rugby and (2) his subsequent form in the Rugby World Cup was less than remarkable. Hopefully, he has his affairs in order and can direct all his attention to reproducing that scintillating form for the Force. I am also hopeful that he sees more of the pill that his equivalent and predecessor, David Smith, did last year.

I thought he looked quite sound at the RWC, considering how poor the Fijian forward pack were and quality of ball he received. But yes, it will be very interesting.
