NSW 1 can play NSW II in the final of the National Schoolboys Championships and still have less players selected for Australian Schoolboys than come from QLD who played off for 3rd and 4th.

Never underestimate tournament rugby selections to not follow "usual" mathematical logic.

How many times have you seen a 2nd XV touch up a 1st XV at training?

Agree Joeys entitled to feel pretty pissed off about that. My point was more around tournament rugby though.

Yes understand. I have come to the conclusion that 16s selections are a bit misleading but hopefully over the next couple of years things even out. In my opinion there will be many hard luck stories when they pick NSW but I wouldn't be too concerned about it & good luck to those that make it. I hope they make the most of the opportunity.

The question was asked on the GPS U16 thread which boys would be eligible for both NSW Schools U16 and Sydney or Country

So who are the boys doing both?
Quite a few. Apologies if I miss any but there are a lot of names to cross reference. Please feel free to add any as the boys deserve the recognition. If anyone could add the country lads that would be appreciated

I have only done the Sydney regional teams. I would expects some of these names to be under consideration for both NSW Schools and Sydney Juniors.

Trinity have some very talented u16s players. Unfortunately (for the u16As), nearly all have been plucked to play 1sts. As a result, they have been on the receiving end of a few 50+ pt defeats during the regular CAS season, so I wouldn't read too much into the above result.

Barker 16A's defeat St Pats 16A's 26-5 in a 12 vs 12 match as St Pats didn't have the required players. Wasn't really a fair game of rugby as both teams couldn't field all of their best players at the same time.

Here's the NSW u16s Schools Team. CAS with 6, close to the 7 I predicted, GPS with 9 (v 10 predicted) and ISA with 9, blowing my prediction of 3 - 4 out of the water. The only other association represented is CHS with 1. Given CHS beat ISA on the day and only lost to eventual winners Pres A, they are entitled to feel hardly done by IMO.

Who have the schools selected for 6 and 7. It appears to me that they have only chosen two 7's with 3 number 8's.

Think they may be looking to play Moretti at 6 - he plays there for Waves 1sts. The 8s are Titmuss and Sean V. Who else? Douglas can play 8 but is typically a 5 and very tall and lean.

Agree Bremner played very well. Tough decision for selectors as there were some very good hookers.

Trinity will also improve in their last few games, on personnel.

Apparently their two former strong A players who have been doing specialist athletics this winter - Bertie Swann and Seb Moir - are coming back for the last couple of games, esp the Cranbrook one.

And apparently both are significantly faster than they were, from the specialist training they've been doing.

Will be interesting to see how much of a difference they make.

^ Both quality players a massive boost for Trinity!

Tips for this weekend.

Barker V Cranbrook - Barker by 21+

Knox V Waverley - Waverley by 2

Trinity V Aloys - Aloys by 15

Barker def Cranbrook 29-0

Cranbrook opted to have contested scrums but were heavily dominated. Cranbrook looked like scoring a few times but were held back by a solid barker defence.
