23 wickets for Lyon is the most in a series for an Aussie offie for 110 years, since Hugh Trumble in 1903/04
Bird, Cummins and Pattinson are hopefully 1, if not 2 if the bodies can be right. Joe Burns and Mitch Marsh perhaps as well.
Pattinson is looking decent with his slightly changed action. Hopefully his lower back holds up now. Will be good to see him back in the mix. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in some of the ODIs before the CWC. I imagine we won't be using our CWC bowlers too much, particularly the ones who have been playing in the tests.
on the plus side, we saw a glimpse of our future this series with Smith, HAzelwood, Starc and Lyon (and of course warner). Thats 5 players to build a team around. Just leaves 6 more to find:-(
Australia lost the chance to win the match in Starc's first over with the new ball. No where near accurate enough and just released the pressure.
Missed Johnson this afternoon.
BH I believe the WC squad to be announced tomorrow will also be the squad for the ODIs beforehand. That being so, can't see the test included bowlers getting much of a rest, nor unfortunately from my pov would Pattinson be included if he's not in the WC squad. Don't know where that leaves Michael Clarke. Surely, he can't be fit for the ODIs if he plans to be back for the second or later match in the WC.
That was the best thing to come out of the series, other than winning it of course. I would add Burns to your list, he looks to have something about him I reckon. Hazelwood looks a million bucks for mine.
But if you get replaced you can't come back in right?Clarke can be replaced in the squad after the start of the tournament so I doubt an injury replacement is a problem.
