We were too conservative today and then bowled poorly with the second new ball. But India batted well also. Anyway, it was a solid series, the pitches were too flat for my liking but it was good to see India's next gen.

on the plus side, we saw a glimpse of our future this series with Smith, HAzelwood, Starc and Lyon (and of course warner). Thats 5 players to build a team around. Just leaves 6 more to find:-(

Bird, Cummins and Pattinson are hopefully 1, if not 2 if the bodies can be right. Joe Burns and Mitch Marsh perhaps as well.

Is Mitchell Starc leading the motorcycles race in this year's Dakar under the pseudonym of Barreda-Bort?

Bird is already 28. I'd be somewhat surprised if he plays test cricket again.

I think we'll take Johnson, Harris, Hazlewood, Starc, Siddle and Cummins on the Ashes tour (assuming we have a squad of 17 or 18).

Pattinson is looking decent with his slightly changed action. Hopefully his lower back holds up now. Will be good to see him back in the mix. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in some of the ODIs before the CWC. I imagine we won't be using our CWC bowlers too much, particularly the ones who have been playing in the tests.

My Aussie CWC squad:

Warner, Finch, Watson, Clarke, Bailey, Smith, M Marsh, Faulkner, Maxwell, Haddin, Johnson, Starc, Harris, Cummins, Lyon.

I tend to think they won't pick Harris and will pick Hazlewood instead. I'd pick Harris and use him sparingly through the tournament. I think he'd be in our best XI at the business end of the tournament.

BH I believe the WC squad to be announced tomorrow will also be the squad for the ODIs beforehand. That being so, can't see the test included bowlers getting much of a rest, nor unfortunately from my pov would Pattinson be included if he's not in the WC squad. Don't know where that leaves Michael Clarke. Surely, he can't be fit for the ODIs if he plans to be back for the second or later match in the WC.

That was the best thing to come out of the series, other than winning it of course. I would add Burns to your list, he looks to have something about him I reckon. Hazelwood looks a million bucks for mine.

Clarke will be named in the squad but I don't think he'll play before the CWC.

I have a feeling there will be some extra players used for the warm up games.

Given the overs our bowlers bowled in Sydney and the fact that Johnson and Mitch Marsh have been injured, I can't see them using them in all the triangular series games. Obviously I could be wrong though.

I hope Mitch Marsh can show that he should be added to the list also. He looks to be the natural replacement for Watson, although I do like Faulkner as well.

In respect of Hazelwood, he is very much in the mould of Glen McGrath but I'm pretty sure he has had a more successful introduction to test cricket than Glenny had. Very auspicious.

The squad for the WC has been announced :

Squad: Michael Clarke (c), George Bailey (v), Pat Cummins, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steve smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Shane Watson.

The same squad will contest the Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series against England and India, which starts on Friday with the first ODI between Australia and England in Sydney.

I think they're looking after Ryano very carefully. He looked buggered out there yesterday. Still, we're also carrying blokes who are half fit into the tournament too, which hey never leads to trouble at all.

Clarke can be replaced in the squad after the start of the tournament so I doubt an injury replacement is a problem.

Decent enough squad. No Lyon or Harris the right call. Doherty understandable (don't want two off spinners with Maxwell there), but would have thought that Ahmed, Agar or Boyce would have been a better choice.

No 2nd keeper is suspect, especially since Dunk would be good enough as a batsman, but with both openers and the three leaders unlikely to bowl much if at all, you can't really afford it.

In a 15 man squad, I doubt any teams will be selecting a second keeper unless they're likely to play one of them as a specialist batsman.

If Haddin gets injured I imagine Wade will replace him in the squad.
